Position Information
Edward Public School is situated in the rural town of Deniliquin, which has a population of approximately 8,000 people. Located alongside the scenic Edward River in the Southern Riverina region, the school has a proud enrolment of 101 students, with 24% identifying as Aboriginal.
The school is widely recognised for its welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, a quality that staff and community members value highly. Students have access to a broad range of opportunities in academic subjects, sports, creative activities and cultural programs, supporting their growth and development in all areas of life.
Edward Public School is equipped with up-to-date technology, including interactive panels and a 1:1 iPad program that ensures all students have access to effective learning tools. The school is also proud of its dedicated technology centre and STEM room, interactive panels in every classroom, well-resourced library and spacious playgrounds. These facilities contribute to providing a safe and supportive environment where students can learn, explore and play.
Student wellbeing is a key priority at Edward Public School. The school currently operates five mainstream classes and one Multi-Categorical Class, which offers tailored support for students with identified learning needs. Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated capacity to lead the development and implementation of a student-cantered School Excellence Plan (SEP) aligned with equity, excellence and the NSW Plan for Public Education to drive measurable improvement in student growth and wellbeing.
2.
Experience in developing and maintaining wellbeing systems that promote positive relationships, student support, and a safe environment demonstrated through proactive leadership that ensures every student is known, valued and cared for.
3· Evidence of being an approachable, highly visible and collaborative leader who actively builds strong, authentic relationships with students, staff, parents, Aboriginal families and the wider community, fostering a genuine sense of belonging and connection, underpinned by high expectations, shared decision-making and a collective responsibility for student success.
4. Demonstrated success of being a proactive, resilient and visible leader with a commitment to promoting the school profile and building authentic connections with parents, carers, and the wider community to strengthen a culture of productive partnerships in education.
General Selection Criteria
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education,

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the recent structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2026.
