We’re looking for a dedicated Waste and Circular Economy Coordinator to join our local government team!

How you will make a difference

You will have the potential to achieve outstanding outcomes with an innovative approach to doing business, together with a passion for service excellence. You will drive best practice waste management processes across Council, manage the operations of Transfer Stations, kerbside collection contracts, closed landfill sites and regulated waste compliance obligations.

You will be responsible for:

- Leading the development and implementation of waste management strategies for the community in line with statutory requirements
- Ensuring the proper collection, recycling, and disposal of waste via kerbside collection and from councils transfer stations
- Monitoring compliance with local regulations, EPA guidelines and waste disposal policies
- Collaborating with local businesses, residents, and environmental groups to promote sustainable practices
- Tracking waste reduction progress and provide detailed reports to local government officials as guided by Council related action plans
- Educating the public on proper waste disposal techniques and the importance of recycling

Your skills will include:





- Excellent people and communication skills to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Knowledge of local waste management laws and sustainability practices
- A problem-solver with a passion for sustainability and the environment
- Previous experience in waste management, environmental services, or a related field is a plus

About the position:

- Permanent Full-Time Position
- Alpine Shire Council Enterprise Agreement 2023: Band 7
- Band 7A Salary range commencing at $100,353 + Super + Leave Loading

- Based in Bright
