About the Business

Sinjeon K-Street Food Hawthorn is an established Korean restaurant located in Hawthorn, Victoria. We prepare and serve a range of made-to-order Korean dishes, including tteokbokki, rice dishes, noodle dishes, fried chicken, kimbap and other Korean specialities.

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Cook to join our kitchen team on a permanent full-time basis.

Tasks and Responsibilities

- Examining foodstuffs and ingredients to ensure quality and freshness.
- Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers and other cooking equipment.
- Preparing and cooking a variety of Korean dishes and other menu items.
- Seasoning food during preparation and cooking.
- Portioning food, arranging dishes on plates, and adding sauces, gravies and garnishes.
- Monitoring cooking times and temperatures to maintain consistent food quality.
- Storing food and ingredients in temperature-controlled facilities in accordance with food safety requirements.
- Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements where required.
- Planning menus and estimating food and ingredient requirements when required.
- Assisting with stock control, food ordering and minimising food wastage.
- Maintaining a clean, hygienic and organised kitchen environment.




- Training and assisting other kitchen staff and apprentices where required.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will have:

- A relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- A minimum of two years’ relevant experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Experience preparing Korean or Asian cuisine is highly regarded.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality during high-volume service.
- Strong time-management, communication and teamwork skills.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as reasonably required.
