Leading Hand / Site Supervisor
Rubber Surfacing & Synthetic Grass – South East Queensland
We’re looking for a hands-on Leading Hand / Site Supervisor to lead our commercial wet-pour rubber surfacing and synthetic grass crews across South East Queensland.
Our projects include playgrounds, schools, councils, childcare centres, parks, developers and public spaces.
This role is specifically focused on the surfacing side of our business — primarily wet-pour rubber safety surfacing and synthetic grass installation.
This is not a clipboard-only supervisor role. You’ll be working alongside the crew when required while taking responsibility for running the site, coordinating the team, maintaining quality and getting the job completed efficiently.
Steady, year-round work with consistent projects and strong rates for the right person.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leading the Rubber & Grass Crew
- Leading and coordinating our rubber surfacing and synthetic grass crews
- Running daily pre-starts and allocating work
- Keeping the crew productive and projects moving
- Leading from the front and working hands-on when required
- Training and developing less experienced installers
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and site presentation
Wet-Pour Rubber Surfacing
- Preparing playground bases ready for rubber installation
- Measuring and setting out rubber areas
- Checking levels, falls, depths and finished heights
- Mixing rubber granules, polyurethane binders and colour systems
- Installing wet-pour rubber safety surfacing to project specifications
- Screeding, shaping and hand finishing rubber surfaces
- Installing colours, patterns and custom designs where required
- Maintaining accurate depths and critical fall height requirements
- Managing quality control throughout the installation
Synthetic Grass
- Preparing bases for synthetic grass installation
- Setting out and cutting synthetic turf
- Joining, fixing and finishing synthetic grass
- Installing around playground equipment, edges and other structures
- Maintaining levels, drainage and finished presentation
- Ensuring completed surfaces meet project specifications
Running the Site
- Reading plans, specifications and construction drawings
- Organising materials, rubber, binder, turf and equipment
- Checking quantities and deliveries
- Coordinating daily site activities and labour
- Monitoring progress against project timeframes
- Communicating with project managers, clients and other trades
- Identifying and solving site issues before they cause delays
- Completing quality checks prior to handover
Safety & Site Management
- Maintaining safe, clean and organised worksites
- Running daily pre-starts and toolbox talks
- Ensuring SWMS and site safety requirements are followed
- Managing specialist rubber equipment, mixers, tools and machinery
- Looking after company vehicles and equipment
- Ensuring sites are left clean and qualified
The Reality of the Role
This is a hands-on outdoor construction role.
You’ll be responsible for leading the crew, but you’ll also be expected to jump in and help with mixing, screeding, laying rubber,
installing synthetic grass and completing site works when required.
The right person will be comfortable taking ownership of a job — organising the crew, solving problems and making sure the finished product is something we’re proud to hand over.
Travel throughout South East Queensland is required, with 10–12 hour days when projects require it.
What We’re Looking For
Above all, we’re looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and organised
- Physically fit
- Comfortable leading a small crew
- Able to work independently and make decisions
- Quality focused
- Good at communicating with workers and clients
- Willing to lead from the front and work alongside the team
Experience in any of the following is highly regarded:
- Wet-pour rubber surfacing
- Synthetic grass installation
- Playground surfacing
- Epoxy flooring
- Decorative concrete
- Flooring installation
- Landscaping
- Commercial construction
- Leading hand or site supervisor roles
Experience specifically with wet-pour rubber is highly desirable, but we’re also interested in experienced leading hands from similar trades who have the right attitude and can learn our systems.
A current driver’s licence and Construction White Card are required. Machinery tickets and experience operating excavators or skid steers are also highly regarded.
