YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE

We are looking for a Laboratory Analyst LIII in AUS. Your mission will be to:

Role:
Reporting to the Chemistry Inorganics Team Leader, the incumbent is responsible for performing routine food testing, conducting a broad range of enzymatic and instrumental tests including testing the physical properties of samples. Tasks are undertaken using manual, semi-automated, and fully automated techniques. Where testing is automated, analysts are responsible for analysing data and reporting results.

- Work safely at all times in accordance with laboratory safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

Quality:

- Apply the laboratory quality management system and participate in continuous improvement processes.
- Use laboratory application and information management software effectively.
- Perform troubleshooting of analytical methods and equipment.





Teamwork:

- Conduct a range of routine analytical tests.
- Organise and maintain work areas to ensure efficiency and compliance.

Technical:

- Process, interpret, and report analytical data accurately.
- Define and resolve problems of limited complexity, where information may be less obvious but can be determined through direct reasoning.
- Conduct various tests on physical properties of samples.
- Conduct various enzymatic tests.
- Perform tests using wet chemistry techniques.
- Preparation of samples for instrumental tests.
- Preparation and routine testing skills at this level may include:

❖ Filtration, digestion, and extraction techniques;
❖ Preparation of standard solutions;
❖ Calibration of instruments and equipment; and
❖ Operation of analytical instruments.

- Ability to operate and perform testing using the following instruments:

❖ Spectrometer (Ultraviolet/Visible (UV/VIS);
❖ Plate reader (ELISA);
❖ Auto-titrator;
❖ Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP-OES and MS); and
❖ Microwave Digestion Unit.

Customer Focus:

- Report results in a timely manner.




- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and methodologies underlying the tests conducted.
- Perform other duties as directed.

Candidate:

- Tertiary qualification in Scientific discipline (essential).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory role (Preferred).
- Understanding of NATA requirements, with experience working to GLP standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Quality-focused with solid attention to detail skills, and the ability to perform in fast- paced environment.
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively to meet daily deadlines.
- Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System [LIMS].

YOUR PROFILE

- Tertiary qualification in Scientific discipline (essential).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory role (Preferred).
