Job Summary

Deliver vocational education and training in live sound for theatrical productions, live performances and public events, supporting students to develop practical skills, technical knowledge and professional capabilities for the live production industry.

About the Role

Reporting to the Education Manager Dramatic Arts, this role is responsible for planning, delivering and assessing vocational education and training in live sound across a range of learning environments.

You will apply current live sound and production industry knowledge and experience to practical and theoretical teaching and assessment, supporting students to work safely and effectively with relevant live sound equipment, technologies and production practices.

You will support diverse learner cohorts through inclusive, flexible and contemporary teaching practices, contribute to high-quality learning and assessment resources, and engage with industry and professional networks to support program relevance, student learning and employment outcomes.

What You'll Do

- Plan, prepare, deliver and assess learning activities that meet learner needs and align with approved curriculum, learning plans and assessment requirements
- Create safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments that promote student engagement, participation and positive learning outcomes
- Support learners throughout the learning lifecycle, including student participation, learning plans for students at risk, reasonable adjustments, consultation and referral to appropriate support services
- Apply contemporary live sound technologies, equipment, workflows and production practices to practical and theoretical teaching and assessment
- Develop and maintain high-quality learning and assessment resources and contribute to curriculum and assessment development and review, as appropriate to teaching level
- Maintain accurate attendance,



assessment and learner progress records and contribute to validation, moderation, quality assurance and compliance activities
- Maintain teaching, educational and vocational/industry currency through professional development and engagement with current industry practice
- Establish and maintain professional networks with the live production and entertainment industry, relevant VET bodies and other stakeholders to support teaching relevance, program quality and student opportunities
- Work collaboratively within teaching teams and contribute to team activities, meetings and continuous improvement of programs and teaching practices

What You'll Bring

Essential

- Appropriate vocational competency and/or qualifications relevant to Live Production (Live Sound), together with relevant, recent and current industry knowledge, skills and experience in live sound for theatrical productions and public events
- Demonstrated current professional and industry knowledge, skills and experience in live sound for theatrical productions, live performances and public events
- Demonstrated ability to apply contemporary live sound technologies, equipment, workflows and industry practices to vocational teaching and assessment
- Ability to support students to develop practical live sound skills in relevant production and performance environments
- Demonstrated learner-centred teaching practice and understanding of adult learning principles
- Ability to plan, organise and deliver high-quality teaching and assessment in diverse learning environments and meet agreed deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse learner cohorts
- Strong digital and technical capability relevant to live sound and live production environments
- Ability to establish and maintain relevant industry and professional networks that support vocational currency, program relevance and student opportunities
- Commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement and inclusive practice
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to workplace health and safety, equity and inclusion principles

Desirable

- Experience teaching or assessing in a VET environment
- Experience working with diverse learner cohorts
- Knowledge of current issues and developments in vocational education and training relevant to Live Production

Qualifications & Mandatory Checks

Appointment to this position is subject to meeting the qualification requirements (where applicable) and the successful completion of all mandatory employment checks.

Teaching Qualifications

To be considered for this role,



you must meet the qualification requirements under the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Agreement 2024 and relevant regulatory standards.

You will have:

- Relevant qualifications in your discipline area
- Recent and relevant industry and/or teaching experience

In addition, depending on the role:

- Vocational Education and Training (VET) roles:

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent), or a diploma or higher qualification in adult or vocational education

- Non-Vocational Education roles (e.g. EAL, AMEP, SEE, Foundation, VCE):
A recognised teaching qualification appropriate to the program (e.g. postgraduate TESOL or equivalent), and demonstrated teaching capability through relevant experience

Applicants who can demonstrate equivalent teaching capability through a combination of qualifications and experience may also be considered.

Mandatory Checks

- A valid Victorian Working with Children Check (Employee)
- A National Police Check
