SmartMind Academy – Gordon

We are looking for a warm, reliable and enthusiastic Education student / Pre-Service Teacher to join our teaching team at our Gordon and Chatswood learning centre.

This role is specifically suited to a university student currently studying Primary Education or Early Childhood/Primary Education, ideally someone who has already completed at least one school placement and would like to gain further practical teaching experience while studying.

About the Role

You will work with young learners in Kindergarten to Year 2, teaching:

- Systematic Phonics & Early Literacy
- Early reading, blending and spelling
- K–2 Mathematics
- Small-group classes with structured teaching materials provided by SmartMind

Our classes are small, allowing teachers to develop genuine teaching experience in explaining concepts, supporting individual students and managing a classroom.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

- Is currently studying a Bachelor or Master of Education, preferably Primary Education
- Has ideally completed at least one school placement / skilled experience
- Has a genuine interest in teaching younger primary students
- Is patient, warm and confident communicating with children
- Can give clear instructions and manage a small group of students
- Is reliable and willing to commit consistently during the school term
- Holds, or is eligible to hold, a valid NSW Working With Children Check

Phonics Experience

Previous Phonics teaching experience is an advantage,



but not essential.

SmartMind provides structured Phonics teaching materials, lesson sequences and teacher guidance.

Training will be provided to help the successful applicant understand our approach to explicit phonics instruction, blending, decoding, spelling and early reading.
