To support its ongoing workshop operations and customer servicing requirements, RVR Corporations Pty Ltd t/a Ram's G-Elec Automotive is seeking to appoint a dedicated full-time Motor Mechanic.

About the Role

The Motor Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, testing and repairing engines and related mechanical components of light motor vehicles. The position requires strong practical mechanical knowledge, diagnostic capability and the ability to undertake servicing and repairs across a range of automotive systems.

The role includes diagnosing faults in engines and mechanical components, dismantling and removing vehicle components, repairing and replacing worn or defective parts, undertaking scheduled maintenance, reassembling repaired components and testing mechanical systems to ensure correct performance.

The Motor Mechanic will also use computerised diagnostic equipment and technical information to identify vehicle faults and determine appropriate repair requirements.

The successful applicant must be capable of working independently and as part of the broader workshop team while maintaining high standards of workmanship, vehicle safety and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The Motor Mechanic will be responsible for:

- Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and mechanical components using appropriate testing procedures, diagnostic equipment and technical information.
- Inspecting vehicles and identifying mechanical faults, worn components and servicing or repair requirements.
- Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other mechanical components for inspection and repair.
- Checking dismantled components and parts for wear, damage, deterioration or other defects.
- Repairing and replacing worn,



damaged or defective parts and reassembling mechanical components in accordance with appropriate technical specifications.
- Referring to service manuals, manufacturer specifications and technical information when determining appropriate repair procedures.
- Performing scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, fluid checks and engine tune-ups.
- Undertaking preventative maintenance to support reliable vehicle performance and reduce the likelihood of mechanical failure.
- Maintaining, testing and repairing petrol engines and associated mechanical systems.
- Inspecting, diagnosing and repairing transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems.
- Removing, repairing, replacing and reinstalling mechanical components as required.
- Reassembling engines and mechanical components following completion of repair work.
- Testing and adjusting mechanical parts following repairs to ensure correct operation and performance.
- Using computerised diagnostic equipment and automotive scan tools to diagnose and test vehicle systems and components.
- Investigating mechanical performance issues and determining appropriate corrective or repair actions.
- Conducting vehicle inspections to identify work required to maintain safe and reliable vehicle operation.
- Undertaking post-repair inspections and testing to confirm that mechanical work has been completed correctly.
- Road-testing vehicles where appropriate to verify performance following servicing or repair work.
- Identifying additional repair or maintenance requirements discovered during inspections and servicing.
- Maintaining accurate records of servicing, repairs, replacement parts and work undertaken.
- Communicating identified faults, repair requirements and technical findings to management and relevant workshop personnel.
- Ensuring tools, diagnostic equipment and workshop equipment are used correctly and maintained in appropriate working condition.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
- Following appropriate procedures for handling automotive oils, fluids, components and workshop materials.
- Working collaboratively with management, other mechanics and workshop personnel to support efficient workflow and repair turnaround times.
- Ensuring mechanical work is completed accurately and to appropriate standards of workmanship.
- Complying with applicable workplace health and safety requirements, workshop procedures and safe working practices.
- Undertaking other relevant mechanical servicing and repair duties reasonably associated with the Motor Mechanic position.

Qualifications and Experience





Applicants should possess:

- An AQF Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or another relevant automotive mechanical qualification, including the required on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV; or
- At least three years of relevant automotive mechanical experience may substitute for the formal qualification.

In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.

Registration or licensing may be required where applicable to the work undertaken.

Skills and Professional Competencies

The successful applicant should demonstrate:

- Strong practical knowledge of automotive mechanical systems and vehicle repair procedures.
- Experience detecting and diagnosing engine and mechanical faults.
- Ability to inspect, dismantle, repair and reassemble engines and related mechanical components.
- Knowledge of petrol engines and light motor vehicle mechanical systems.
- Experience servicing and repairing transmissions, steering, suspension and braking systems.
- Competence in scheduled servicing and preventative vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to repair and replace worn or defective mechanical components.
- Experience using computerised automotive diagnostic equipment and scan tools.
- Ability to interpret service manuals, manufacturer specifications and technical information.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and practical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to test and adjust mechanical components following repairs.

Work Conditions

- The position involves practical, hands-on automotive servicing, diagnostics, mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance.
- The Motor Mechanic will work within an active automotive workshop environment and coordinate with management and other workshop personnel.
- The position requires regular use of automotive hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment and specialised workshop equipment.
- All servicing and repair activities must be undertaken in accordance with appropriate technical specifications, workplace safety requirements and established workshop procedures.
- The successful applicant will be expected to maintain qualified standards of reliability, workmanship, safety and conduct.
