About the role

Steelfirst Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and qualified Structural Steel Fabricator to join our talented team in pakenham, VIC. As a full-time (38 hours per week) employee, you will play a vital role in the fabrication and installation of structural steel, ensuring our clients receive exceptional quality workmanship across residential and commercial construction projects.

What you'll be doing

· Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements

· Select, clean and prepare metal stock prior to fabrication

· Mark off and cut metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines

· Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments

· Join metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting

· Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision

· Finish products by cleaning, polishing and filing

· Assist with on-site installation of structural steelwork for residential and commercial projects

· Maintain a safe and organised workshop workplace in compliance with WHS requirements





What we're looking for

· Formal trade qualification in Engineering – Fabrication (MEM31922 Certificate III or equivalent)

· Minimum 1 years of experience as a qualified Structural Steel Fabricator

· Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints

· Strong welding skills (MIG/Stick)

· Current White Card (or ability to obtain prior to commencement)

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Commitment to safety and workplace health standards
