Job Description
For over 30 years, DASCO has been building more than homes — we've built a reputation that speaks for itself. As a privately owned Australian developer and builder, our portfolio spans more than 7,000 dwellings valued in excess of $2.4 billion. We're a 4.5-star iCIRT rated builder and a certified Great Place to Work, and we've never walked away from a project.
We're looking for an experienced WHS Manager to join our Danks Street, Waterloo project
WHS Manager wanted for our Danks Street high-rise project. High-rise experience essential — someone who can walk the floor, watch a trade work, and know instantly if they're following their SWMS.
Danks Street already has one Safety Officer on site. As the project ramps up, we need a WHS Manager to add bench strength and bring real process discipline to the site.
Day to day, you will:
- Walk the floor daily and hold trades accountable to their SWMS — not from a desk, from the deck
- Identify and shut down unsafe work before it becomes an incident
- Build and embed WHS process and systems as the project scales up
- Work alongside the existing Safety Officer, coordinating coverage and standards across the site
- Report to the Project Manager, while working closely with the Project-level Safety Manager and the EBA roving safety officer
- Run inductions, toolbox talks, audits and incident investigations as required
- Provide occupational first aid response on site
Reporting line: Project Manager, with close working relationships to the Project Safety Manager and EBA roving safety officer.
Hours: Full-time, site-based, 6-day week.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Diploma or certification in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Environmental Management, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a construction safety and environmental role.
- Robust knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices within the construction industry.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead both safety and environmental briefings and meetings. Confidence to challenge trade supervisors and crews directly, and make it stick
- Strong attention to detail, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating safety and environmental risks. Experience building out safety process and systems on a scaling site, not just maintaining an existing one
- Proficiency in safety and environmental management systems and reporting software (e.g. Hammertech, Procore, MS Office Suite).
- Demonstrates a consistent track record of upholding Dasco’s core values of excellence, respect, partnership, reliability, and safety in all aspects of work, with a proactive approach to applying these principles in day-to-day responsibilities
