Disability Support Worker – Child & Family | Epping VIC

We are a caring family in Epping, near Aurora Village, looking for a reliable, kind and enthusiastic female disability support worker to support our 12-year-old child and our family with day-to-day routines.

Our child has a disability following an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) in January 2023 and requires significant support with his daily activities, personal care, rehabilitation and participation.

An Important Part of This Role

This is a child and family support role, not solely one-to-one support with our child.

Supporting our child also means supporting the family environment around him. Depending on the shift and our child's needs, some of your time may involve direct support with him, while other time may involve helping with cooking, cleaning, laundry, organising his things and other household tasks that help us manage his care and daily family routine.

We are therefore looking for someone who is comfortable with both disability support and practical household support, and who understands that both are important parts of the role.

About the Role

Responsibilities include:

- Personal care: Showering, dressing, toileting and assistance with daily needs.
- Household and family support: Cooking, cleaning, laundry, tidying and helping with everyday household routines.
- Play and engagement: Communicating, playing and participating in meaningful activities that support his development and wellbeing.
- Rehabilitation support: Assisting with exercises and activities recommended by his therapists.
- Community support: Assisting with appointments, activities and community participation when required.
- Working as part of the family routine:



Being flexible and helping where support is most needed during the shift.

Who We Are Looking For

We would love to hear from someone who:

- Genuinely enjoys supporting children with disabilities and their families.
- Is happy to assist with both direct child support and household responsibilities.
- Is patient, caring, positive and proactive.
- Communicates well and can build a warm connection with a child.
- Can follow care instructions, therapy recommendations and relevant support plans.
- Takes initiative and notices what needs to be done without always needing to be asked.
- Is comfortable providing personal care.
- Has a current Working With Children Check.
- Has a current National Police Check.
- Has a driver's licence and reliable vehicle (preferred).
- Can reliably travel to Epping for rostered shifts.

Previous experience supporting children or people with disability is highly regarded.

Shifts

We have multiple shifts available throughout the week.

There may be flexibility in days and hours depending on your availability and suitability for the role.

Pay: $25.00 – $40.00 per hour
