Working closely with our leadership team, you’ll play a key role in strengthening our safety systems, supporting our crews in the field, and helping ensure every team member goes home safely at the end of each day. This is a hands-on role that balances compliance with practical support, helping safety become part of the way we work, not just a box to tick.
The ideal candidate will have experience in workplace health and safety, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to build positive relationships across all areas of the business. Experience within landscaping, construction or a related industry is highly regarded but not essential.

What you'll be doing:
- Managing AHLG’s WHS systems, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Conducting site visits, workplace inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments
- Managing WHS compliance, reporting, documentation, and record keeping
- Managing hazard identification, risk assessments, and the implementation of effective controls
- Managing incident, injury, and near-miss reporting, investigations,
corrective actions, and follow-up activities
- Coordinating inductions and supporting ongoing safety training
- Managing WHS reporting, trend analysis, and safety performance updates for leaders
- Providing practical WHS advice and support across the business
- Working alongside leaders and teams to identify workplace risks and improve safety outcomes
- Promoting a positive, proactive safety culture where everyone takes ownership of workplace safety
- Assisting with emergency procedures, evacuation planning, and workplace preparedness activities
- WHS committee coordination, including meeting preparation and action tracking
What we're after:
- Experience in a Work Health & Safety role or similar
- Qualification in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation, compliance requirements, and best practice (SA knowledge highly regarded)
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Confidence communicating with people at all levels of the business
- Ability to build trust and positively influence workplace behaviours
- Strong computer skills and confidence using a range of digital systems, platforms, and workplace technology
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
- A practical, down-to-earth attitude that suits a growing local business
