Kitchen All-Rounder / Kitchen Hand – Entry Level Welcome

Mountain View Café in Maleny is looking for a reliable and motivated Kitchen All-Rounder / Kitchen Hand to join our team for approximately 15–20 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours during busy periods, staff holidays and sick leave.

MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORT TO MALENY

Previous commercial kitchen experience is not essential. We are happy to train the right person and would welcome applications from people looking to get their first start in hospitality, school leavers, homeschoolers, career changers or anyone with an interest in food preparation and working in a kitchen setting.

About the role

This is a varied position that will include:

- Basic food preparation
- Assisting chefs with prep and service
- Preparing ingredients and simple menu components
- Keeping work areas clean and organised
- Dishwashing and general kitchen-hand duties
- Restocking and helping keep the kitchen running smoothly
- Assisting with other kitchen tasks as required

As you gain confidence and experience, there may also be opportunities to learn additional food preparation and cooking skills.

What we're looking for

You don't need to be a qualified chef or have years of kitchen experience. More importantly, we're looking for someone who:

- Is reliable and turns up ready to work
- Is willing to learn and take direction




- Can work efficiently and stay calm when the kitchen gets busy
- Has good common sense and can think on their feet
- Is comfortable with basic food preparation
- Works well as part of a team
- Is happy to pitch in with all aspects of the kitchen, including cleaning and dishwashing
- Has a positive attitude and takes pride in doing a job properly

Home cooking, food preparation or previous hospitality experience would be an advantage, but is not required.

Hours

Approximately 15–20 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours depending on availability and business needs.

The role may include weekday and weekend shifts.

We're more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn than someone with a long hospitality résumé.
