THE ROLE

An exciting and unique opportunity exists to join the Reform and Engagement team as a Senior Policy Officer to lead on work to respond to the children and families related findings of the Yoorrook Justice Commission.

This role will lead and support Aboriginal-led and self-determined policy design and delivery, contributing to strengthened self-determination for Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, and supporting improved outcomes for Aboriginal children and families associated with Victoria's Child Protection, Care Services and Child and Family Services system.

This role will be well suited to a agile team player and highly organised individual with excellent verbal communication, project management and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of Victoria's Child Protection and Family Services systems. The ideal candidate will require strong policy, written and stakeholder engagement skills.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

- Lead the full life cycle of policy projects that support critical self-determined and Aboriginal-led child protection and family services reform, including:
- Undertaking research, analysis and implementation of Aboriginal-led policy design and delivery
- Developing policy initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives.




- Managing projects or sub-projects and being accountable for the successful delivery and completion of the projects/sub-projects within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
- Monitoring and evaluating projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.

- Provide authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
- Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions.
