Water Treatment Operator – Aquatic Pool Facilities

About the Opportunity
Mackay Regional Council is seeking a qualified Water Treatment Operator to join our Aquatic Facilities team; focusing on the safe and effective operation of Council’s swimming pools and aquatic facilities.
Working autonomously, and reporting to the Team Leader – Aquatic Facilities , you will ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Public Health Act, WorkSafe QLD, and local government regulations. Your expertise will help maintain public health and safety standards through effective water chemistry management, plant room operations, and facility maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain water treatment systems in accordance with regulatory and safety standards.
- Conduct routine water quality testing and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality service.
- Promote and uphold Council’s values, fostering a culture of safety, respect, and integrity.
- Participate in a rotating one-in-four-week on-call roster, including weekend shifts and public holidays as required.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- C Class Driver Licence
- General Construction Induction White Card
- Demonstrated experience in aquatic facility operations or similar environments.
- Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable (not essential):
- Qualifications in water treatment operations:
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Pool Plant Operator certification
