What you'll be doing
The Brighter Beginnings initiative is a collaboration between NSW Health and NSW Department of Education to plan a collaborative service model in the delivery of preschool health and development checks.

The Occupational Therapist has a recognised clinical speciality within paediatric occupational therapy in providing screening, assessment and early intervention services and support to children referred to the Brighter Beginnings Health and Development Checks in Preschool Program.

The clinician provides direct clinical services, coordinates service provision, and works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team and supports capacity building for health and education staff.

The clinician is responsible for implementing specific quality initiatives and will have a role in data collection for the service. Full participation in quality processes, clinical supervision and professional development is an integral expectation within this role.

The Occupational Therapist is able to provide clinical services to client groups and operate in circumstances of a complex nature requiring advanced practice skills.

Daily travel to childcare services within the targeted area is expected.

About You
You are a dedicated Occupational Therapist with recognised qualifications and registration eligibility through the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, bringing valuable experience in supporting children with developmental challenges and their families.



Your clinical background includes paediatric screening, assessment, and early intervention, enabling you to deliver evidence-based, family-centred care that promotes positive developmental outcomes and maximises each child's participation in everyday activities.

You are confident working independently while also thriving within multidisciplinary teams and collaborating closely with community support services to ensure coordinated and holistic care. Your ability to build solid relationships with children, families, carers, and professional stakeholders allows you to provide compassionate support and achieve meaningful outcomes for clients across a variety of settings.

Highly organised and proactive, you effectively manage clinical and administrative responsibilities while balancing professional development commitments. You are skilled at prioritising competing demands, coordinating workload requirements, and delegating appropriate tasks to support staff to ensure efficient service delivery. Recognised for your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you foster positive working relationships and contribute to a collaborative, supportive team environment.

Committed to continuous learning and high-quality paediatric practice, you bring a flexible and client-focused approach to your work. With a current Class C Driver Licence and a willingness to travel as required, you are well equipped to provide accessible occupational therapy services to children and families across diverse community settings.
