Junior Lawyer – Immigration Law
Join an Award-Winning, Leading Immigration Practice
Katsaros & Associates | Brunswick, Melbourne (City-Fringe Location)
Full-Time | $75,000–$85,000 + Super (Based on Experience)
Katsaros & Associates is an award-winning and industry-leading boutique immigration law firm, proudly based in the vibrant heart of Brunswick, just minutes from Melbourne’s CBD. We've experienced significant growth and are now looking for a talented Junior Lawyer with immigration law experience to join our close-knit and high-performing team.
About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded junior lawyer who is passionate about immigration law and understands the value of strong client relationships and legal service delivery. You will work across a diverse range of immigration matters — including partner visas, protection visas, skills assessments, employer-sponsored matters, and tribunal appeals — while developing a sharp understanding of how to add value to both clients and the firm.
We’re looking for someone who not only knows the law but also understands the business of law — someone who brings an appreciation of sales, client engagement, and what it means to provide real, measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct client consultations and assist clients in identifying suitable visa pathways.
- Build strong relationships with clients through exceptional service and communication.
- Prepare and lodge a wide variety of Australian visa applications.
- Draft detailed legal submissions, statutory declarations, and legal correspondence.
- Conduct legal research and interpret complex migration legislation, policy, and case law.
- Manage client files from initial enquiry through to finalisation.
- Liaise with the Department of Home Affairs, the Administrative Review Tribunal, the Federal Court, medical practitioners, employers, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare disclosure statements, costs agreements, and engagement documentation.
- Maintain accurate trust account records and comply with professional obligations relating to trust money.
- Record billable work accurately and maintain organised electronic files.
- Assist senior lawyers on complex litigation and review matters.
- Work collaboratively with our legal and administrative team to ensure exceptional client outcomes.
- Contribute ideas to improve systems, efficiency, and the overall client experience.
About You
We are looking for someone who is intelligent, energetic, and genuinely passionate about immigration law. You enjoy building relationships with clients, solving complex problems, and working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Admission as an Australian Lawyer.
- Approximately 2–3 years’ post-admission experience (PAE).
- Direct experience in immigration law or administrative law.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organisational and file management skills,
with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Confidence communicating with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Strong commercial awareness and a professional, client-focused approach.
- An interest in business development, client relationship management, and contributing to the continued growth of the firm.
- The initiative to work independently while collaborating effectively within a close-knit team.
- A genuine desire to make a meaningful difference in clients’ lives.
- A willingness to learn, accept responsibility, and continually develop professionally.
What We Offer
- A chance to work with an award-winning, respected name in immigration law
- Direct mentorship from leading immigration practitioners
- Meaningful and diverse client work that genuinely changes lives
- A supportive, collaborative culture where your growth is our priority
- Competitive remuneration ($75K–$95K + super, based on experience)
- Full-time role based in our Brunswick office – an energetic, culturally rich location
- Visa sponsorship for non-citizens
