SPEECH PATHOLOGIST/SENIOR - SCHOOL AND WEMBLEY CLINIC BASED

Flexible part time working hours

Smart Talk Therapy for Kids is a vibrant multidisciplinary practice located in Wembley and Currambine. We work with children from birth to 18 years of age. We provide a range of speech pathology and specialised feeding services to a mixture of mainstream and disability caseloads. We offer a multidisciplinary practice with Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists.

We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, professional, committed and friendly speech pathologist to join our Wembley team. The successful candidate will provide clinic and school based services. The role includes supporting and enhancing learning outcomes for students with oral language/ literacy and communication difficulties and disorders.

The Speech Pathologist will need to have a broad understanding of educational needs and awareness of current best-practice in the management of oral language, literacy and communication difficulties and disorders in school-age students, including the assessment and support for students with Developmental Language Disorder.

As our Speech Pathologist, you have excellent written communication and time management skills and play a pivotal role in enhancing the communication skills of our clients both in clinic and on school premises. You will be collaborating closely with teachers, parents, and other specialists to develop personalised treatment plans. Your expertise will help our students overcome communication challenges and thrive academically and socially.

THE ROLE:





- Working across clinic and school based service delivery models.
- Provide guidance to teachers, students, and parents.
- Conduct assessments and develop individualised therapy plans.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate speech and language strategies into the classroom.
- Empower parents and caregivers with strategies for continued support at home.
- Stay updated on the latest research and techniques in the field.
- Organize workshops and training sessions for staff development.
- Understand and comply with the policies and procedures of the school site you are allocated.
- Deliver advice regarding educational needs and current best-practice in the area of speech pathology.

ABOUT YOU:

- Able to work across service delivery models both in our clinic rooms and on school premises.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in developing and delivering recommendations to support access and participation in learning for students with language and communication disorders in the school and clinic based setting.
- Understanding or proven ability to provide speech pathology services within a school setting to children with oral language and communication difficulties and disabilities.
- You possess a professional approach,



have exceptional stakeholder management skills and like to be part of a team focusing on continuous improvement to deliver positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated awareness of current best-practice in the management of communication disorders; particularly, early intervention, early speech, language and communication development and school-aged literacy, language and communication students.

Essential Criteria:

- Tertiary Qualification in Speech Pathology
- Current registration with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)/WWC
- Experience conducting assessment, diagnosis, intervention and evaluation of paediatric speech, language, voice and fluency.
- Experience providing disability services
- A valid driver's license and a car
- Ability to manage and grow caseloads
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional development
- Demonstrate an ability to show initiative and apply effective organisational skills
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
