About the Role

As Lecturer in Media and Communication (Journalism), you will play an important role in delivering excellence in teaching, research, and engagement within the School of Humanities, Creative Industries and Social Sciences.

Combining academic expertise with industry experience, you will contribute to undergraduate teaching, impactful research, and meaningful partnerships with industry and community. We are seeking a candidate with practical industry experience in news, professional writing, data journalism, social news, digital storytelling and multimedia journalism.

You will be joining a collaborative and inclusive community that is passionate about creating positive impact through education, research and innovation, while supporting the success of students, staff and the broader community.

About You

You bring expertise in journalism and media, combined with a passion for teaching, research and industry engagement. Motivated by the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic academic community, you are committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences, advancing knowledge in your field, and building strong connections with industry and the wider community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Completion of a doctoral qualification in Media and Communication or a related discipline.
- A track record of high-quality publications and/or non-traditional research outputs, with evidence of research collaboration and funding success.
- Capacity to supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students.
- Demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching, with a commitment to enhancing student outcomes.
- Experience preparing and delivering undergraduate courses in Journalism and Media and Communication.
- Experience in curriculum design, course coordination and integrating research into teaching.




- Practical industry experience in news, professional writing, data journalism, social news, digital storytelling and multimedia journalism.
- Ability to contribute to a collegial culture and build productive industry and community partnerships.
