Appoint Recruit
Miles
- Salary tailored to capability, reaching $200,000 + super at the senior end
- Choose a permanent 5/2 or 9/5 DIDO roster, with a dedicated vehicle
- Shape and grow an in-house survey function across a secure project pipeline
The Opportunity
Appoint Recruit is partnering with a well-established, family-owned Queensland civil contractor delivering a diverse range of energy and infrastructure projects across the Surat Basin, Darling Downs and broader regional Queensland.
The business is currently transitioning towards a more structured in-house surveying capability and is seeking an experienced Civil Project Surveyor to take ownership of survey delivery across multiple active sites.
This is a contractor-side role offering genuine autonomy, exposure to varied civil works, and the opportunity to influence how surveying is delivered across the business long-term. You will be joining a secure organisation with a strong pipeline of ongoing regional projects, particularly within the energy, renewables and civil infrastructure sectors.
The Role
In this position, you will act as the primary point of contact for surveying requirements across assigned projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers and Supervisors, you will ensure construction activities are accurately set out, verified and delivered in line with design requirements.
The role is both field and office based, with a strong emphasis on practical, on-the-ground surveying and real-time problem-solving to support construction teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing full lifecycle survey delivery, including control establishment, construction set-out, verification and final as-constructed documentation
- Interpreting engineering drawings, models and specifications, proactively identifying design or constructability issues before they affect site progress
- Coordinating survey priorities and providing clear,
practical guidance to site teams in line with construction programs
- Maintaining accurate survey records, quantities and QA documentation to support reporting and project handover
- Establishing internal systems, workflows and standards, while helping guide junior survey staff as the function expands
About You
Formal registration is not required. The key requirement is strong, hands-on civil construction surveying experience and the ability to operate independently within a project environment.
You will ideally bring:
- End-to-end civil construction surveying experience across control networks, set-out, verification and as-constructed works
- Exposure to earthworks, roads, drainage, concrete structures, energy or renewable infrastructure projects
- Confidence using modern total stations, GNSS systems and relevant processing software, supported by strong drawing interpretation
- A proactive, self-sufficient approach and the communication skills to manage competing priorities across multiple sites
- A current White Card, valid driver’s licence and full Australian working rights
This position would suit an experienced Civil or Construction Surveyor, or a high-performing Surveying Technician ready to step into a more autonomous, project ownership-focused role.
Why This Role
- Choose between permanent 5/2 or 9/5 DIDO rosters, providing structured time onsite and regular breaks at home
- Join a stable contractor with a strong and consistent pipeline of regional civil and energy infrastructure projects
- Earn up to $200,000 + super, reflecting senior-level capability and proven project ownership
- Receive a fully maintained company vehicle, with accommodation, meals and a $50 daily site allowance while on roster
- Shape an internal surveying function from the ground up, with scope to progress into senior leadership as the team expands
