The Opportunity

Sante Recruitment is partnering with Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital to appoint a Staff Specialist in Paediatrics.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a major regional referral centre, delivering comprehensive paediatric and neonatal care across a large and diverse catchment in northern New South Wales.

You will work within a well-supported multidisciplinary team, contributing to inpatient, outpatient, and neonatal services, while also playing a key role in **teaching, service development, and regional outreach**.

With **282 beds**, Tamworth is the **largest regional hospital in NSW outside the Sydney–Wollongong–Newcastle corridor**, providing a wide range of specialist services.

* **18-bed inpatient unit** with **2,600+ admissions annually**
* **Outpatient clinics** seeing approximately **5,000 patients per year**
* Broad case mix including:

* Orthopaedics
* Gastroenterology
* Endocrinology
* Oncology
* Mental health
* Ophthalmology & dental

The service is supported by visiting subspecialists from **John Hunter Children's Hospital**, including:

* Paediatric Surgery
* Neurology
* Respiratory / CF
* Haematology-Oncology
* Cardiology
* Immunology
* Rehabilitation and more

A strong **community allied health team** supports developmental assessments and specialty clinics.

Neonatal Services

* **Level 3 Neonatal Service** within a Level 4 maternity unit




* Management of infants ≥32 weeks or ≥1500g
* Initial stabilisation of preterm infants prior to **Newborn and Paediatric Emergency Transport Service** retrieval
* Special Care Nursery providing:

* CPAP support
* Phototherapy
* Feeding and growth management
* Sepsis management
* Transition care

Requirements

* Primary medical degree registrable with the **Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency**
* Fellowship of the **Royal Australasian College of Physicians** (FRACP – General Paediatrics), or
