About the Role
Green Light is seeking an experienced Implementation Engineer to deliver infrastructure modernisation, cloud migration, and systems implementation services within a complex enterprise environment.
This role will be responsible for implementing and supporting solutions across virtualisation, server, storage, and Microsoft Azure environments. A key focus will be migrating workloads from VMware and legacy on-premises platforms to Azure and hybrid-cloud environments.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Hyper-V, VMware, Azure virtual machines, storage, networking, and enterprise infrastructure migrations.
Responsibilities
- Assess existing infrastructure, applications, dependencies, and technology landscapes
- Participate in technical discovery, solution validation, implementation planning, and future-state design
- Implement and support virtualised infrastructure across Hyper-V, VMware, and Microsoft Azure environments
- Plan and execute the migration of virtual machines and workloads from VMware and other legacy platforms to Azure
- Configure and support Azure virtual machines, storage, networking, and associated cloud services
- Deliver solutions across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure environments
- Assist with the implementation and integration of Microsoft technologies, enterprise applications, and line-of-business systems
- Support identity and access services, including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and single sign-on
- Implement infrastructure security controls and ensure solutions meet cybersecurity and compliance requirements
- Assist with Azure Front Door, Web Application Firewall, SQL, monitoring, and security integration where required
- Support the integration of infrastructure services with NOC, SIEM, monitoring, and alerting platforms
- Develop implementation plans, migration runbooks, testing procedures, cutover plans, and rollback strategies
- Conduct testing and post-implementation validation to confirm solution performance, stability, and security
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues arising during migrations and implementations
- Work with internal teams and external vendors to manage technical dependencies and delivery timelines
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records, and operational support procedures
- Provide knowledge transfer and handover to service desk and operational support teams
- Contribute to business continuity, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resilience initiatives
- Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement across implementation and operational processes
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience delivering infrastructure implementations and cloud migrations in enterprise environments
- Microsoft Azure: Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, Storage Accounts, Azure Backup, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Front Door, Web Application Firewall, and Azure SQL
- Virtualisation: VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter, Microsoft Hyper-V, virtual machine provisioning, configuration, migration, and performance troubleshooting
- Demonstrated experience migrating VMware or Hyper-V workloads to Azure using Azure Migrate or equivalent migration tools
- Microsoft infrastructure: Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Entra ID, and single sign-on
- Server and storage: Physical and virtual servers, SAN/NAS storage, capacity planning, backup, recovery, and high-availability configurations
- Networking: TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, MPLS, and software-defined networking
- Security and monitoring: SIEM integration, infrastructure monitoring, vulnerability remediation, access controls, patching, logging, alerting, and security compliance
- Automation: PowerShell scripting for infrastructure deployment, configuration, migration, and operational support
- Experience creating migration plans, technical implementation plans, test scripts, cutover procedures, rollback plans, and operational handover documentation
- Strong troubleshooting capability across Azure, VMware, Hyper-V, Windows Server, storage, identity, and network environments
- Experience working with enterprise architects, security teams, service desk teams, vendors, and application owners during infrastructure implementations
- Working knowledge of ITIL-based incident, problem, change, and release management processes
