Senior Clinical Dental Assistant | Geelong
From $35 per hour + super | 4–5 days per week | Modern dentistry | Long-term team | Genuine career opportunity
If you are an experienced Dental Assistant who still loves being in surgery, enjoys working with good clinicians and wants to be part of a team where people actually stay, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.
Attention To Dental is recruiting for a Senior Clinical Dental Assistant to join a highly regarded, established dental practice in Geelong.
This role offers the chance to work in a modern six-surgery environment, be exposed to interesting and more advanced dentistry, and use the experience you have built over the years in a role where it will genuinely be valued.
Why This Role Is Worth Considering
There are plenty of Dental Assistant roles available, but not all practices offer the same environment.
What stands out about this practice is the longevity of its team. Several staff members have been with the practice for more than five years, with some exceeding ten years.
That kind of retention usually says a lot about the culture.
The team is described as supportive, professional, structured and patient-focused, with experienced clinicians who care about doing things properly and working well together.
You can expect:
- A stable and established team
- Experienced Dentists, Hygienists and Oral Health Therapists
- Modern equipment and digital dentistry
- Exposure to a broad range of procedures
- Ongoing mentoring and professional development
- Daily team huddles and open communication
- A workplace that values high standards without losing the human side of dentistry
- The opportunity to contribute your own experience and ideas
- A genuine long-term career opportunity
For someone who has reached the point where they want more than simply “another DA job”, this is the kind of role where you can become an important part of the practice.
Stay Clinical, While Stepping Up
One of the best things about this role is that it allows you to progress without moving away from the part of Dental Assisting you enjoy.
You will remain predominantly chairside, working closely with clinicians across both general and more complex dentistry, while also becoming someone the wider DA team can look to for guidance and support.
You will have exposure to areas including:
- General and cosmetic dentistry
- Implants
- Oral surgery
- Endodontics
- Periodontics
- Invisalign
- Paediatric dentistry
- Digital dentistry
- CBCT
- CEREC
- Intraoral scanning
- Laboratory cases
Experience across every area is not expected.
What matters is that you are already a confident, capable chairside Dental Assistant with a solid clinical foundation and an interest in continuing to develop your skills.
A Role Where Your Experience Matters
This position is ideal for someone who has built strong clinical knowledge and enjoys being the person others can rely on.
Alongside your own chairside responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to support and mentor less-experienced Dental Assistants, reinforce good clinical habits and help maintain strong standards across the practice.
You are not stepping into a management-heavy or administrative role.
Instead, you are bringing your experience into the clinical environment and helping others develop while continuing to work hands-on yourself.
What You Will Bring
The practice is looking for someone with:
- At least 2–3 years of solid Australian Dental Assisting experience
- Strong, current chairside skills
- Confidence assisting across a broad range of procedures
- Excellent infection-control and sterilisation knowledge
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- A calm and professional approach
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- Confidence supporting less-experienced team members
- A genuine commitment to patient care
Experience with implants, CEREC, digital workflows, rotary endodontics, surgical extractions, intraoral scanning, laboratory cases, item numbers, charting and treatment planning will be particularly valuable.
A Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting is welcomed, but the practice places significant importance on your real-world experience, capability and attitude.
The Culture
The practice values people who are positive, reliable and team-focused.
They want someone who communicates openly, takes ownership of their role and is happy to help when things get busy.
This is not a workplace where people operate in silos.
The team works closely together, supports each other and takes pride in delivering a high standard of care.
For the right person, the biggest attraction may simply be finding a workplace where you can come in, do good work, enjoy the people around you and feel genuinely appreciated for what you bring.
Hours & Pay
The practice is ideally looking for someone available 4–5 days per week.
Availability on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday is particularly important.
Typical practice hours are approximately 8:00am–5:30pm, depending on the clinical schedule.
Remuneration is from $35 per hour + super, with the final rate discussed according to experience and clinical capability.
Interested?
If you are an experienced Dental Assistant who enjoys contemporary dentistry, values a strong team culture and wants to work somewhere your clinical skills and experience will be genuinely appreciated, we would love to hear from you.
