Buderim Foods is Australia's leading ginger manufacturer, producing high-quality ginger products enjoyed by consumers and customers around the world. We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Technical Specialist to join our Quality and Technical team.
This is a diverse and fast-paced role that will support quality, compliance, customer service, artwork management, regulatory activities, and technical administration across the business.
About the Role
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Technical Specialist will act as a key liaison between customers, consumers, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams. You will be responsible for managing technical enquiries, customer and consumer complaints, artwork and specification administration, customer documentation requests, and regulatory compliance activities.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining Buderim Foods' reputation for product quality, food safety, and customer service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Consumer Complaints Management
· Manage consumer complaints and enquiries, including investigation coordination and response management.
· Administer customer complaints, maintain complaint records, and issue initial responses.
· Prepare weekly and monthly complaint trending reports.
· Coordinate product sample retrieval and review where required.
· Escalate food safety and quality concerns to the Quality Manager for investigation and corrective action.
Technical & Customer Support
· Respond to customer technical enquiries and information requests.
· Complete customer questionnaires, statements, certificates, and technical documentation.
· Support customers with product, quality, compliance, and regulatory information.
Artwork & Product Information Management
· Prepare technical briefs for artwork development and packaging updates.
· Coordinate artwork revisions and participate in artwork approval processes.
· Issue barcode numbers and artwork codes.
· Maintain Product Information Files (PIFs) and associated documentation.
· Review product specifications and support specification approval and publication processes.
Compliance & Regulatory Support
· Assist with compliance activities relating to Australian and international regulatory requirements, including FSANZ, EU, US, and other export market regulations.
· Support responses to regulatory and microbiological enquiries.
· Assist with customer and certification audits as required.
Portal & Database Administration
· Manage customer and regulatory portals including systems such as Deepstream, TraceGains, FDA, and Halal platforms.
· Upload and maintain certificates, supplier documentation, and product information.
· Ensure technical records remain accurate, current, and audit-ready.
Supplier & Co-Manufacturer Support
· Maintain Approved Supplier records and documentation.
· Support supplier compliance reviews and audit preparation activities.
· Issue and monitor Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) to co-manufacturers and suppliers.
· Follow up corrective actions and maintain communication with relevant stakeholders.
About You
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
· Qualifications in Food Science, Food Technology, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, or a related discipline.
· Experience within food manufacturing, quality assurance, or technical services.
· Sound understanding of food safety, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.
· Strong written communication skills with the ability to respond professionally to customers and consumers.
· Experience managing technical documentation, specifications, and compliance records.
· Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and deadlines.
· Experience with customer portals, specification systems, or supplier management systems is highly regarded.
