About the role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic to join the team at DJ Automotive Repairs in Toowoomba, QLD. This is a full-time position where you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing a diverse range of light vehicles for our valued clients. As a Light Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, performing repairs and maintenance, and ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of safety and quality. This position is essential to our business operations and directly impacts customer satisfaction and vehicle safety.

Key responsibilities

- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge

- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, brake servicing and fluid checks

- Repair and replace defective components such as engines, transmissions, suspension and braking systems

- Conduct vehicle inspections and provide detailed reports to customers regarding repair requirements

- Perform welding and fabrication work as required for vehicle repairs

- Test repaired vehicles to ensure all work has been completed correctly and safely

- Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used

- Adhere to all workplace health and safety regulations and procedures

- Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair progress and any additional work identified

- Keep work areas clean and organised, and maintain tools and equipment in good working condition

What we're looking for

- Recognised automotive trade qualification or equivalent experience as a light vehicle mechanic

- Strong knowledge of light vehicle mechanical and electrical systems

- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools

- Experience with up-to-date vehicle computer systems and diagnostic software





- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

- Current driver's licence

- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation

- Commitment to workplace health and safety standards

- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise multiple tasks

- Experience with warranty work and dealing with insurance claims is desirable

- Knowledge of Australian vehicle standards and regulations is an advantage
