AustraliAir Heating and Cooling is looking for a motivated 1st Year Mechanical Plumbing Apprentice to join our growing business.
We specialise in the installation of heating and cooling systems in new residential construction, working across Melbourne's western suburbs, Geelong and surrounding areas.
This is a hands-on apprenticeship in the mechanical plumbing / HVAC industry, with full training and support provided. You will work directly alongside the business owner and our team while learning the trade and completing your apprenticeship.
Your duties will include:
- Assisting with the installation of heating and cooling systems in new homes.
- Installing ductwork and associated HVAC components.
- Assisting with the installation of refrigerant pipework and associated mechanical services.
- Installing and fitting indoor and outdoor heating and cooling equipment.
- Learning to read house plans, mechanical layouts and job specifications.
- Using hand and power tools safely and correctly.
- Working in roof spaces and on ladders where required.
- Assisting with testing and commissioning completed systems.
- Working alongside builders and other trades on residential construction sites.
- Keeping work areas, tools and equipment clean and organised.
- Developing your skills and taking on more responsibility as you progress through your apprenticeship.

- Good communication skills.
- Physically capable of undertaking hands-on construction work, including working on ladders and in roof spaces.

- Takes pride in completing work to a high standard.
- Genuine interest in learning a trade and building a career in the heating and cooling industry.
Previous experience is not required. We're looking for someone with the right attitude who is willing to learn.
Requirements:
- Reliable transport to the agreed starting location is required.
- Driver's licence is highly regarded, though not mandatory.
- Construction Industry White Card, or willingness to obtain one.
- Willingness to attend and complete the required trade schooling throughout the apprenticeship.
This role would suit someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and wants to build a career in the heating and cooling industry. You'll receive hands-on training from experienced tradespeople and be given more responsibility as your skills and confidence develop.
