Quality First Constructions is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager / Multi-Site Supervisor to manage multiple residential and commercial projects across the Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas.
Based in Coolum Beach, we deliver custom homes, townhouse developments, major renovations and commercial fit-outs, including offices, hospitality and medical projects.
This is a senior, hands-on role that goes beyond day-to-day site supervision. You will take ownership of each project’s program, performance, subcontractor coordination, quality, client communication and overall delivery.
You will also coordinate our small in-house site team. This includes allocating the team across projects, planning their work and ensuring their time is used productively.
You will be well supported by our Director, Production Estimator, Estimator and administration team, who assist with procurement, purchase orders, variations, project costing, documentation and general project administration. You will work closely with the wider team while remaining responsible for planning, coordinating and driving your projects on site.
The role
You will independently manage multiple projects at different stages of construction. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, maintaining and actively managing construction programs
- Forward-planning subcontractors, labour, materials, deliveries and inspections
- Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and our in-house site team
- Allocating leading hands, carpenters, apprentices and labourers across projects
- Planning and monitoring the productivity of in-house labour
- Ensuring sites are ready and trades have the correct information before commencing work
- Monitoring labour, variations, project costs and overall budget performance
- Working closely with the Production Estimator to manage procurement, purchase orders and cost reporting
- Identifying potential delays, cost overruns and construction issues early
- Reviewing plans, engineering,
specifications and contract documentation
- Ensuring projects are completed in accordance with approved documentation
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and site presentation
- Conducting site meetings and communicating professionally with clients
- Coordinating statutory inspections and approvals
- Managing practical completion, handover, defects and maintenance items
- Providing clear and timely updates to the Director and office team
Project reporting and systems
Accurate and consistent project reporting is a mandatory requirement of this position.
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Record time and site attendance daily through TSheets
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records in Wunderbuild
- Regularly update construction programs and project progress
- Review and monitor the allocation of in-house labour across projects
- Record site issues, client discussions, delays, variations and required actions
- Provide early warning of any program, budget or construction concerns
- Communicate upcoming requirements to the office team with sufficient notice
You must be comfortable using technology and understand that accurate project reporting is an essential part of successfully managing the role.
About you
To be successful in this position, you will need:
- At least three years’ experience in a construction supervisory or project management role
- Demonstrated experience independently managing multiple concurrent projects
- Experience coordinating and leading employees as well as subcontractors
- Solid residential construction knowledge
- Commercial fit-out experience will be highly regarded
- Strong construction programming and forward-planning skills
- A good understanding of project budgets, labour productivity and cost control
- The ability to read and interpret plans, engineering and specifications
- Strong leadership and subcontractor coordination skills
- Professional client communication and problem-solving abilities
- Good computer skills and confidence using construction software
- High attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
- A proactive, organised and accountable approach
- A current Queensland driver licence
- A trade background, preferably carpentry
- A QBCC Site Supervisor licence, or eligibility to obtain one promptly
