A great opportunity has become available for an experienced Work Health & Safety and Injury Management professional to join the St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc. (Vinnies) team.

We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical knowledge, practical thinking and a genuine passion for creating safe, healthy and supportive workplaces.

This is more than a compliance role. You’ll have the opportunity to work across a diverse organisation supporting 130+ employees and approximately 2,500 members and volunteers, helping to strengthen WHS, Injury Management and safety practices across our retail, warehousing, community services, crisis accommodation, refugee and asylum seeker programs and corporate environments.

This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity at an exciting time for Vinnies, as we strengthen our systems and align our operations with our new strategic priorities. You'll play a key role in strengthening WHS and Injury Management across the organisation, working with people at all levels to build practical, effective and sustainable safety practices.

As we review our future operational requirements and the structure needed to support our strategic plan, there is potential for the position to be extended and/or transition to an ongoing permanent opportunity.

About the Role

Reporting to the CFO/GM Corporate Services, you'll be the key coordinator for WHS and Injury Management across the Society.

You will:

- Coordinate the Society's WHS and Injury Management systems, compliance requirements and annual WHS program

- Provide practical and specialist WHS advice to managers, employees, members and volunteers across metropolitan and regional locations

- Coordinate incident and injury management, workers' compensation and Return to Work processes

- Lead workplace inspections, risk assessments, audits, investigations and corrective actions

- Coordinate WHS training, emergency management and WHS Committee activities

- Monitor WHS data, identify trends and support continuous improvement

- Maintain WHS policies, procedures,



risk assessments and safety documentation

- Coordinate WHS-related contractor, facilities and maintenance compliance

- Administer WHS and learning systems including Donesafe and Litmos

- Supervise and support the Administration Support Officer – WHS & Maintenance

You'll work closely with our CEO, Executive Leadership Team, managers, employees, members, volunteers and external providers to ensure safety is embedded into the way we work.

What We're Looking For

You're an experienced WHS professional who can combine technical knowledge with a practical, people-focused approach. You will be comfortable working across different environments, providing advice to managers and employees, and balancing compliance requirements with operational realities.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone practical, confident and people-focused, with:

- Demonstrated experience in WHS and/or Injury Management

- Sound knowledge of South Australian WHS legislation and contemporary WHS practices

- Experience with incident management, risk assessment, investigations, workers' compensation and Return to Work

- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide practical advice to people at all levels

- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations

- The confidence to work autonomously, exercise sound judgement and build strong relationships

- A current Class C Driver's Licence

You'll ideally also have: a WHS qualification, Return to Work Coordinator training (or willing to obtain through Vinnies) and experience with Donesafe, Litmos or similar systems.
