We’re looking for a design-focused Senior Mechanical Engineer with resources-sector experience.
Iridium Project Delivery is a growing Perth-based engineering and project delivery consultancy supporting clients across the Australian resources sector. As our project portfolio continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and take a key role in the design and delivery of materials handling and mechanical infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on, design-focused engineering role suited to someone who enjoys developing practical engineering solutions, working closely with designers and seeing projects progress from concept and studies through detailed design and into construction.

About the Role
Working within Iridium's engineering and project delivery team, you'll be responsible for mechanical engineering and design across materials handling and associated resources infrastructure.The role will have a strong technical and design focus, you'll work closely with our mechanical designers, other engineering disciplines, clients, vendors and contractors to develop solutions that are technically sound, constructable,



maintainable and appropriate for the operating environment.
Day-to-day, you'll:
Develop mechanical designs from concept through to detailed designUndertake engineering of bulk materials handling systems and processing equipmentDevelop and review designs for conveyors, transfer chutes, feeders, bins, hoppers, stockpile systems and associated mechanical equipmentPrepare mechanical calculations, equipment sizing and technical assessmentsDevelop equipment specifications, datasheets, scopes of work and technical documentationPrepare and review mechanical equipment layouts and 3D models in conjunction with designersLead mechanical design packages and coordinate interfaces with structural, civil, electrical and process disciplinesReview vendor documentation, drawings and technical submissionsUndertake technical bid evaluations and support equipment selectionParticipate in design reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOPS and project risk reviewsUndertake brownfields investigations, site inspections and development of practical modification solutionsLiaise directly with clients, vendors, fabricators and contractorsMentor engineers and designers and contribute to the development of Iridium's engineering standards and systems
About You
We're looking for an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong design background and a practical understanding of how resources projects are engineered, constructed, operated and maintained.
You'll bring:




Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent5+ years' relevant mechanical engineering experience, with senior-level capabilityStrong mechanical design and engineering fundamentalsExperience in mining, minerals processing, bulk materials handling or resources infrastructureExperience with materials handling equipment such as conveyors, feeders, chutes, bins, hoppers and stockpile/reclaim systemsAbility to develop calculations, specifications, datasheets and engineering deliverables with limited supervisionExperience working effectively with mechanical designers and 3D design modelsWorking knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and resources-sector engineering practicesPractical understanding of fabrication, construction, maintainability and brownfields designStrong technical problem-solving and communication skillsAbility to manage mechanical engineering packages and take ownership of technical outcomesPermanent Australian work rights
Experience with ports, iron ore, lithium, mineral sands, crushing and screening, shiploading or other bulk commodity infrastructure will be highly regarded.
Experience with mechanical design software, materials handling calculations and multidisciplinary detailed design projects will also be advantageous.
Membership or eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia is desirable.
