About the role

Hirequip is seeking an experienced Heavy Haulage Operator to join our team in Margate, Tasmania. This is a full-time position where you will be responsible for operating and maintaining heavy haulage vehicles and equipment. As a Heavy Haulage Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of our rental fleet throughout Tasmania. Your expertise and professionalism will be essential to maintaining our reputation for reliability and safety in the industry.

Key responsibilities

- Operate heavy haulage vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently in compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations

- Tilt Tray & Low Loader operation

- Conduct pre-operation inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition

- Plan and execute transport routes, considering load specifications, road conditions, and delivery schedules

- Secure and restrain heavy loads appropriately to ensure secure transportation

- Communicate effectively with management, clients and other team members

- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of vehicles and report any mechanical issues promptly

- Contribute to a safety-conscious workplace culture by adhering to all safety protocols and procedures

What we're looking for

- Valid Heavy Combination (HC) driver's licence, with a current and clear driving record

- Minimum 2-3 years float driving and tilt-tray experience - Experience operating earthmoving equipment is essential.

- Knowledge of load securing, weight distribution and compliance with mass and dimension legislation

- Excellent health and safety awareness with a commitment to incident-free operations





- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and clients

- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules

- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks associated with load securing and vehicle maintenance

- Mechanical aptitude and ability to identify and report vehicle maintenance issues

- Complete Post/Pre Rental Inspections on Earthmoving Equipment & Trucks

- Wash & Detail, Grease, Fluid Checks & Inspect Equipment
