The Opportunity

Join the Oncology Day Unit at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital, with permanent and casual opportunities available. Whether you’re an experienced oncology nurse or new to the specialty and looking to grow, we welcome you!

We are a rapidly growing service providing oncology and haematology care for a local population of over 30,000. Armidale offers a lively yet relaxed atmosphere with strong community connections and convenient air and rail links to Sydney when needed. As a town with everything in close reach with surrounding national parks, waterfalls and scenic walking trails, it’s the ideal location to build a rewarding nursing career while enjoying a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.

You’ll provide compassionate, person-centred care to patients throughout their cancer journey while working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team. Full training and ongoing support are provided - what we are looking for are candidates who will bring a positive attitude and a genuine passion for making a difference.

About The Unit

The Oncology Day Unit is a busy and well-supported service featuring:

8 treatment chairs and 1 inpatient bedMonday to Friday operation (excluding public holidays)A strong clinical support structure including a full-time Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC 1 & 2) and a McGrath Cancer Nurse (4 days/week)A dynamic, team-focused environment committed to excellence in patient care

Key Responsibilities

Deliver safe, compassionate, and patient-centred nursing careAdminister oncology and haematology treatments in accordance with protocolsOperate across Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR), as the first adopting local health district under a current statewide initiative by NSW Health to provide a holistic, integrated,



and secure view of a patient’s health informationMonitor patient progress and respond to clinical needsProvide education and emotional support to patients and familiesCollaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary teamMaintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold professional standards

About You

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRADemonstrated experience or strong interest for career development into oncology and/or haematology nursingExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDesire to thrive in environments with a strong philosophy of supportive and compassionate careAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamCommitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
