Bespoke Behaviour

Cairns

Come and grow with us in Cairns!

Positive Behaviour Support starts from a simple idea: behaviour makes sense. Our job is to understand what a person is communicating, help change the conditions around them, and build the skills and supports that give them a better quality of life.

It's beautiful work: time with families, with support workers, with the person at the centre, until the plan fits the actual life it's meant to hold.

And in Cairns, you won't be doing it alone.

We already have an incredible group of local practitioners working across Cairns and North Queensland, including a Team Leader who studied locally, has deep roots in the region, and knows Cairns front to back. We've built a strong reputation here, and we're continuing to grow carefully around the community we're already part of.

Day to day, that looks like:

- Getting to know a person properly: home visits, observation, and time with the people who know them best.

- Functional behaviour assessments: working out what's driving a behaviour and what it's doing for the person.

- Writing behaviour support plans people will actually pick up and use, then coaching families and teams while they put them into practice.

- Collecting and analysing behavioural data, and turning what it tells you into practical strategies.

- Working alongside schools, day programs, GPs, OTs and allied health: you're rarely doing this on your own.

- Discovering, more often than you'd think, that the "challenging behaviour" was the most reasonable response anyone had to a genuinely ridiculous situation.

Here's who we are

We're Bespoke Behaviour, a national, NDIS-registered PBS practice dedicated solely to person-centred, evidence-based behaviour support.

We work across Australia,

but we've been pretty deliberate about not becoming the kind of national organisation where practitioners feel like names on a spreadsheet.

In Cairns and North Queensland, you'll join an established local team of five practitioners, supported by local Team Leader leadership and the governance, systems and clinical infrastructure of a national practice.

The best way we can describe it is national practice, boutique feel.

You get clear clinical governance. Regular supervision. Robust peer support. National professional development. People you can actually call when you're stuck. And directors who remain genuinely invested in how practitioners develop, not simply how much they bill.

Practitioner development is a big part of who we are.

We've had practitioners join Bespoke at Core level and grow into Advanced practitioners, Team Leaders and Practice Leads. We want people to become better clinicians while they're here, take on more meaningful work when they're ready, develop areas of expertise, supervise others, lead teams, teach, and figure out what the next version of their career might look like.

Our Cairns team is tight-knit, our local reputation matters enormously to us, and we're making room for one more practitioner to grow alongside it.

About you

- You come at behaviour with curiosity: you want to understand a person before you plan for them.

- You're good with the people around someone: families, support workers, teachers, the whole team.

- You bring experience in Positive Behaviour Support,

behaviour assessment and intervention planning, with a person-centred, trauma-informed approach.

- You can collect, interpret and use behavioural data to inform your clinical decisions and write plans that are clear and usable.

- You communicate well: you can explain complex ideas in accessible language and write high-quality reports.

- You manage your own caseload, meet deadlines, and work effectively across community settings.

- You're committed to ethical practice, human rights, cultural safety and continuous learning, including engagement in supervision and professional development.

You'll also need:

- Minimum Bachelor-level qualification in a cognate discipline such as psychology, social work, occupational therapy, speech pathology, applied behaviour analysis or counselling.

- A Working with Children Check, or a willingness to get one.

- An NDIS Worker Screening Check for this role — we'll help you sort it if you don't have one yet.

- A current driver's licence and the ability to travel locally for participant visits.

We're looking for a full-time Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our Cairns and North Queensland team.

You'll get the structure, governance and opportunities of a national organisation, without losing the relationships and clinical community that make a smaller practice feel good to work in.

We want someone here for the long game. Someone who wants to become an exceptional practitioner, be supported properly, and have a genuine pathway for what comes next.

Come in as the practitioner you are now.

We'll help you build the practitioner you want to become.
