Alfa Plumbing Gas Services is seeking an Australian-qualified plumber to join our growing Cairns team, with a genuine opportunity to progress into a future leadership position.

We offer $47–$55 per hour plus superannuation, a fully equipped take-home company vehicle and a relocation and retention package worth up to $7,000 for eligible candidates.

This role is suited to a capable and dependable plumber who takes pride in their work, communicates professionally with customers and can operate independently without needing constant supervision.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will carry out residential and commercial service, maintenance and diagnostic plumbing throughout the Cairns region.

The position begins as a Qualified Service Plumber, with the prospect to progress toward Senior Service Plumber and Cairns Team Leader based on your performance, reliability and leadership ability.

As you develop within the company, you may take greater responsibility for supporting field technicians, coordinating with our customer service office and helping the Cairns operation run effectively when the company leaders are unavailable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carry out plumbing maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and installations
• Diagnose plumbing problems accurately and recommend appropriate solutions
• Complete work safely, efficiently and to Australian Standards
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers
• Prepare accurate job notes, photographs and documentation using company systems
• Work independently and manage your daily workload responsibly
• Coordinate effectively with our office and other field technicians
• Assist and guide developing technicians when required
• Maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment to a high standard
• Contribute to the continued improvement and growth of the company

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To be considered, you must:





• Have completed an Australian plumbing apprenticeship and Certificate III in Plumbing
• Have at least four years of Australian plumbing experience, including your apprenticeship
• Hold a current Queensland plumbing occupational licence, provisional licence, or be immediately eligible to obtain one
• Hold a current Australian driver licence
• Have solid experience in residential and commercial service and maintenance plumbing
• Be capable of fault-finding and completing work independently
• Have strong customer communication and problem-solving skills
• Be reliable, organised and accountable
• Be comfortable using mobile applications and digital job-management systems
• Be interested in professional development and potentially progressing into leadership

Experience with blocked drains, CCTV inspections, hydro-jetting, pipe relining, hot-water systems, leak detection, gas work, commercial maintenance or excavator ticket will be highly regarded.

WHAT WE OFFER

• Starting rate of $47–$55 per hour, depending on experience, capability and level of independence

Relocation reimbursement, retention bonuses and future leadership performance bonuses are subject to eligibility, satisfactory performance, continued employment and the applicable conditions of the company’s written employment offer and bonus program.
