About the Role
The Graduate Quality Engineer supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems, processes, and controls across the business. Working under the guidance of experienced engineering and quality professionals, the role helps ensure that products, services, and operational processes meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements. This is an entry-level role designed for a recent engineering graduate who is analytical, detail-oriented, and motivated to build a career in quality assurance, quality control, and continuous improvement. The Graduate will be part of BYCA’s two-year Graduate Program, supporting their professional development and exposure across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), including procedures, work instructions, and quality records.
- Assist with product and process inspections, testing, verification activities, and quality audits.
- Investigate non-conformances, defects, customer complaints, and internal quality issues.
- Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities using methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and 8D.
- Help develop, review, and maintain control plans, inspection plans, process flow documents, and quality reports.
- Collect, analyse, and report quality performance data, including defect rates, scrap, rework, and process capability.
- Support continuous-improvement initiatives to reduce waste, variation, cost, and customer-impacting issues.
- Assist with supplier quality activities, including incoming inspection, supplier issue resolution, and corrective-action follow-up.
- Work collaboratively with manufacturing, design, operations, supply chain, and customer-facing teams to resolve quality concerns.
- Support internal and external audits,
ensuring quality documentation and evidence are prepared and controlled appropriately.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, customer requirements, and health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely quality documentation, records, and reports.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Recent graduate or up to 1–2 years of relevant experience in a quality, manufacturing, engineering, laboratory, or operational environment.
- Basic understanding of quality management principles and quality assurance methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to identifying causes and implementing solutions.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality documentation.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Confidence to raise quality concerns constructively and contribute to improvement discussions.
