The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. About the role
The Case Support Worker delivers culturally respectful assistance to clients and/or carers, aiding in tasks like transportation, appointment attendance, and participation in educational, therapeutic, cultural, or leisure activities within the client's Case plan and allocated funding. The Case Support Worker works alongside the Care Services teams (TCP, Kinship, Foster Care). The Case Support Worker will collaborate with the relevant Case Manager and Team Leader, who lead planning for the children and families receiving support.
About You
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
- Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities
- Ability to engage and build and maintain connections with Aboriginal children and families using culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, strength-based approach.
- Understanding of child protection and out-of-home care systems, including permanency and reunification goals.
- Sound administration skills, including the ability to record case notes, maintain files, use computer databases.
Desirable
- Experience within the Out of Home Care industry.
- Tertiary qualification within Social Sciences/Community services
Requirements
- You must have and continue to hold a full Victorian Driver’s Licence,
a current employment Working with Children Check card and a clear National Police Check
- Current COVID-19 vaccination – strongly recommended
- Flexibility to work casual hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Willingness to enrol or complete relevant community services studies.
