Highlights
- Lead the largest branch in the country by volume, the flagship of a national 25-branch network.
- This is a sales leadership role first: around 90 percent of the focus is sales and how customers are looked after, not back-office admin.
- You're not walking in cold. The outgoing Branch Manager is staying with the business and moving into a dedicated BDM role, so you'll get a genuine, structured handover.
- Decades of product knowledge sit inside the branch, including an operations manager with 45 years of service, so deep technical expertise is a nice-to-have, not a must.
- Ideal step up for an external salesperson ready to lead from the branch, or an experienced internal sales, assistant branch or branch leader wanting a bigger stage.
- Backed by a global Fortune 1000 industrial distributor. Fully maintained vehicle, monthly and annual branch incentive schemes plus freight recovery bonus.
About the Company
Our client is a leading distributor of industrial products: bearings, power transmission, gearboxes, electric motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, belts and more. If it moves, they're interested in supplying it. The business is part of a global, NYSE-listed group with over 100 years in industrial distribution and billions in annual revenue, giving you the stability and resources of a true multinational.
Established in Australia for over a decade, they operate 25 service centres nationally, including four WA branches with Perth as the state head office, supported by a dedicated distribution centre. This Perth branch is the largest in the country by volume. WA's heavy industry drives responsible scale: big products, big customers and big numbers through the branch.
The depth of experience here is rare. The branch team carries decades of combined industry knowledge, including an operations manager with 45 years of service,
and partnerships with world-leading manufacturers such as SKF and Schaeffler mean genuine technical support is always within reach. The business has also recently invested in a new ERP system, modernising how the branch processes orders and serves its customers.
The branch culture is genuinely easygoing and supportive. They're not looking for someone to grind out 60-hour weeks; they want a leader who works smart, delegates well and cares about the team and the customers.
An opportunity now exists for a Branch Manager to lead the Perth branch, with the outgoing manager staying in the business to hand over properly and then support from the road as a senior BDM.
The Impact You'll Make
You'll lead all branch activities across sales, customer service, people and operations, and everything in the branch ultimately runs through you. Your core mission is how the branch treats customers: how enquiries and orders are handled, how urgent jobs get prioritised, and getting on the front foot with customers before problems reach them, not after.
You'll lead a branch team of around ten: an internal sales team of four processing orders, enquiries and quotes, a warehouse team of four, and an experienced operations manager who runs the internal team day to day. The structure works in your favour. The warehouse supervisor reports through the operations manager, and the field BDMs are mentored separately, so you oversee everything without carrying every report directly.
You'll coach, develop and hold the team accountable, making the calls a leader needs to make, with delegation built into how the role is designed to work. Commercially, you'll own branch pricing,
cost control and freight recovery, and work with the State Manager on sales and marketing plans for the territory.
The onboarding is realistic and warm. Nobody is expected to hit the ground running here; you'll work alongside the outgoing manager through a detailed handover while you build your knowledge of the branch, the systems and the customer base.
The role is based at their Welshpool based branch and reports to the State Manager, with genuine flexibility on start and finish times. Some of their branch managers run 7 till 3, others 9 till 5; they'll fit the hours around the right person.
The Experience You'll Bring
- You're passionate about sales and customer service. This role suits someone who lives and breathes the sales process and genuinely cares how customers are looked after.
- Proven people leadership is essential. You're comfortable making the tough calls, having the hard conversations and holding a team to account, and you do it in a way that brings people with you.
- Experience in the industrial MRO market is highly regarded, ideally in bearings and power transmission, but adjacent industrial distribution backgrounds will absolutely be considered.
- Alternatively, you might be an external sales or BDM person who's done the road miles and is ready to lead from the branch, or an internal sales, assistant branch or branch leader ready for the biggest branch in the network.
- Deep product knowledge is not the driver here. With the experience inside the branch and manufacturer partners happy to assist, you'll always have technical expertise to lean on.
- Culturally, you're organised, calm under pressure and a natural delegator who empowers people rather than doing everything yourself.
On offer is a competitive base salary, fully maintained company vehicle, and monthly and annual branch incentive schemes plus a freight recovery bonus.
