We’re looking for an experienced General Manager to lead our team at Stories and join the growing Nokturnl hospitality group. We’re seeking a proven hospitality leader with strong experience across both the operational and commercial sides of the business, who can drive performance while building a positive and high-performing team culture.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality leader who understands both the operational demands of running successful venues and the commercial side of the business, including sales, wages, COGS, budgets and overall profitability.

About the Precinct

Stories is part of a vibrant hospitality precinct operated by Nokturnl, bringing together a diverse mix of bars, restaurants and entertainment experiences. The precinct includes the Front Yard, Pourhouse, Stories Rooftop, as well as the hidden Fat Controller Speakeasy, creating a dynamic workplace that caters to a broad range of customers, occasions and styles of trade.

Beyond Stories, the wider precinct includes our restaurants Karla, Alba, Ugly Baby and Pink Taquito, each with its own distinct concept, atmosphere and customer experience. Together, the venues create a diverse hospitality destination with significant opportunities for collaboration, cross-venue trade and precinct-wide events and activations.





The General Manager will play an important role in overseeing the broader precinct, working across operations, people, commercial performance and customer experience to ensure each venue performs strongly while contributing to the success of the precinct as a whole.

About the Role

This is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall performance of Stories, you’ll be responsible for ensuring each area delivers an exceptional customer experience while operating efficiently, consistently and profitably.

The role is suited to a hands-on hospitality leader who understands that great venues are built through a combination of strong people, great service, operational discipline and commercial performance. You’ll lead a large and diverse team, work closely with department managers and venue leadership, and ensure the business is consistently achieving its operational and financial targets.

As part of the broader Nokturnl precinct, you’ll also work collaboratively with the leadership teams across Karla, Alba, Ugly Baby and Pink Taquito, identifying opportunities to share resources, drive cross-venue trade, coordinate events, activations and functions, and strengthen the overall precinct offering.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

- Leading the day-to-day operation and overall performance of Stories across all areas of the venue.

- Developing,



supporting and leading a high-performing management and operational team.

- Driving sales, profitability and commercial performance across the venue.

- Managing key financial metrics including wages, COGS, budgets, purchasing and overall profitability.

- Maintaining high standards of service, presentation, venue operations and customer experience.

- Ensuring strong compliance across RSA, WHS, licensing and other hospitality requirements.

- Working closely with the broader Nokturnl leadership team on strategy, events, activations and precinct-wide initiatives.

- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and operational efficiency.

- Building a strong workplace culture where people are accountable, supported and motivated to perform.

- Using data and reporting to identify opportunities, manage performance and make informed business decisions.

- Representing Stories and Nokturnl professionally with customers, suppliers, stakeholders and the broader industry.
