A Tier 1 operator in South Australia, Hansen Yuncken is seeking a passionate and motivated Sustainability professional to join our SA team. This newly created opportunity offers the chance to play a key role in supporting sustainability initiatives across our projects while developing your career within a national construction business.
We are open to candidates at different stages of their career. This role could suit a Sustainability Graduate with 1–3 years’ experience, a Sustainability Coordinator looking to take the next step, or a more experienced Sustainability professional ready to step into an Advisor-level position.
About the role
Working primarily within a project team, you will support the delivery of sustainability objectives across our projects and work closely with Project Managers, site teams and other key stakeholders in achieving sustainability outcomes
You will contribute to Hansen Yuncken’s broader national Sustainability Peer Group, providing input into the Sustainability roadmap, providing exposure to sustainability initiatives, knowledge sharing and best practice across the business.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the implementation of sustainability strategies and initiatives across projects and the broader HY business
- Monitoring and reporting on project sustainability performance and targets
- Development and review of Project Environmental Management plans
- Supporting environmental and sustainability compliance requirements, including environmental checks and audits
- Assisting project teams with sustainability documentation, reporting and data collection
- Identifying opportunities to improve environmental performance and reduce waste and resource consumption
- Working with subcontractors, consultants and project teams to promote sustainable construction practices and ensure regulatory compliance
- Contributing to sustainability reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
- Keeping up to date with relevant sustainability standards, legislation and industry developments
About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about sustainability and wants to build a career within the construction industry.
You will ideally have:
- A relevant degree in Environmental Management / Sustainability
- 1–3 years’ relevant experience in sustainability, environmental or construction-related roles
- Experience within the construction, engineering or infrastructure industry will be highly regarded
- Experience with Sustainability certification and rating systems and frameworks (eg Green Star, IGRAT) will be highly regarded
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders
- A practical and proactive approach to sustainability
- A genuine interest in developing your career and contributing to positive outcomes
