About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Utilities division, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects.
Working across complex, high-value projects, you will contribute to the delivery of major electrical infrastructure, including underground cabling, conduits and high-voltage works. Projects involve technically complex environments requiring robust coordination across engineering, construction and subcontractor interfaces.
Working closely with the Project Manager and wider project team, you will take ownership of key engineering and delivery activities across the project lifecycle. This will include coordinating engineering and construction activities, managing subcontractor interfaces, supporting procurement and planning, monitoring project costs and contributing to commercial outcomes.
You will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements, while working collaboratively with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to resolve technical, commercial and scheduling matters and drive successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver project works in accordance with scope, budget, program and required construction methodologies.
- Identify and manage project risks, opportunities, variations and claims.
- Manage subcontractor performance, claims and contractual requirements.
- Monitor project costs, budgets and margins, identifying issues and corrective actions.
- Coordinate procurement, labour, plant and resources to support project delivery.
- Manage technical, quality and project documentation, including ITPs, inspections and handover.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors and project teams to resolve technical, commercial and scheduling issues.
- Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with project safety requirements and procedures.
- Support environmental management and ensure compliance with project environmental requirements.
- Ensure project teams and subcontractors comply with relevant management plans, policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5-7 years' experience within the construction industry, ideally across civil, utilities or major infrastructure projects.
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects valued at $10M+.
- Experience delivering electrical infrastructure, ideally including HV, underground cabling and conduits.
- Strong understanding of construction principles within a multidisciplinary contracting environment.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience in estimating, budgeting, cost control and financial reporting.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, clients and multiple project stakeholders.
- Strong safety leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and lead project teams to successful outcomes.
