About us
We are currently seeking a qualified experienced and motivated Communications Technician with domestic, commercial & industrial experience to join our Electrical Team based in Somersby.
In this role, you will be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and maintaining a variety of structured cabling systems across commercial, industrial, and government environments. You’ll work alongside electricians, IT teams, project managers, and other trades to deliver high‑quality network infrastructure solutions.
To be considered for this role you will be able to meet the following essential selection criteria:
- Experienced knowledge installing Structured, Fibre & Coaxial Cabling Systems
- Advanced knowledge in Network infrastructure, Scheduling & Equipment Design (i.e., Network Switches, SFP Types, PDU’s, UPS, Comms rack cooling design, WAP Heat Mapping, Patch Panels, etc.)
- Installation of copper and fibre optic cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, SM/MM fibre).
- Perform testing and certification using cable certifier.
- Complete patch panel terminations, data rack builds, and cable pathways.
- Conduct fibre splicing, OTDR testing, and fault‑finding.
- Install conduit, tray, catenary wire, J‑hooks, and support systems.
- Read and interpret site plans, drawings, and cable schedules.
- Work effectively within a team or independently on assigned tasks.
- Experience in CCTV Install & Commissioning
- Intermediate/ Advanced Computing troubleshooting skills
- Open registration license, including endorsements in fibre, structured & coax
- A current NSW Driving Licence
- Current WHS white card
- Able to interpret electrical schematics and controls
- Extensive knowledge of AS/CA S009:2020, & be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge in all facets of communication work and a firm commitment to secure work practices
- Ability to liaise with builders, foremen and project managers during contract works
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently
- Ability to adapt to a constant changing work environment and scheduling
- Takes pride in their work and completing projects to the highest of standards
- Willingness to train apprentices with a positive attitude to ensure they become the best tradesman

- Commscope Certified
- Panduit Certified
- Class 2 Security Licence
- Elevated Work Platform Licence
- Confined Space
- Emergency First Aid / CPR
- Working at Heights
- Low Voltage Release and Rescue
- Trained in Milestone
This is a full-time permanent position within our Electrical team. To be successful in this role you must be self-motivated and be willing to put in the work needed to complete jobs in a timely manner. Attention to detail and highest quality workmanship are paramount.
As part of the selection process, applicants must be prepared to undergo a pre-employment medical examination which includes functional, audiometric and drug and alcohol testing.
Rate will be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
