Language Disorder Australia

Fig Tree Pocket

Role: Secondary Teacher - Business / Accounting / Economics
Status: Full Time, permanent
Role Commencing: Term 2 2026
Location: Mancel College | Fig Tree Pocket, Brisbane

Language Disorder Australia currently has a fantastic opportunity available for a Teacher at Mancel College.

At Mancel College, we believe that every young person deserves to be seen for their potential, not their limitations. We’re looking for a teacher who can make enterprise, financial literacy, innovation and real-world problem solving meaningful, someone who can turn concepts into practical understanding and help students see how numbers, systems, and decisions shape the world around them.

You’ll design lessons that are engaging, relevant and adapted to meet students where they are. Through real‑world examples, hands‑on projects, and explicit instructional practices, you’ll help students build confidence in business concepts, numeracy, financial thinking, and economic understanding.

Our students are often underestimated by society, but you'll quickly discover just how capable they are. They are curious, determined, and eager to learn. With your support and encouragement, they'll achieve more than many ever thought possible. Together, you'll help them recognise their strengths, celebrate their progress, and realise their full potential.

At Mancel College, we believe in the power of curiosity, the joy of discovery, and the limitless potential of every student. We are a values-based, active-learning school dedicated to supporting children and young people with Language Disorder, many of whom have co-occurring disabilities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a member of our Senior School Teaching Team, you will:

- Deliver engaging and differentiated Business, Accounting and Economics lessons that build student confidence and capability.

- Help students apply learning to real-world situations through practical, meaningful and relevant learning experiences.

- Understand the unique needs of neurodiverse students with Language Disorder and co-occurring disabilities and embed a neuro-affirming and strengths-based approach to support them.

- Design differentiated strategies that empower students academically, socially, and personally, ensuring their safety, voice, and agency are upheld.

- Collaborate with allied health professionals, teachers, school assistants and leadership as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide integrated, student-centred support.

- Maintain a structured, inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged.

- Work closely with families to build trust, maintain transparency,

and support each student’s progress and wellbeing.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

- Teaching qualifications and current QCT registration.

- Experience and confidence teaching Senior School Business, Accounting and Economics.

- A learner-centred, inclusive approach to education and a passion for building student confidence.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to build authentic relationships with students, colleagues, and families.

- A collaborative mindset and comfort working alongside allied health professionals as part of a support team.

- A growth mindset and willingness to engage in ongoing professional learning.

WHAT YOU WON'T BE DOING:

- Working in isolation. You’ll be supported by a multidisciplinary team and a team-oriented staff culture.

- Delivering rigid, textbook-based instruction. You'll bring your subject areas to life through quality differentiated teaching, real-world connections, and student-responsive learning.

- Lowering expectations. You'll provide high challenge and high support so that every student can achieve success.

- Reinforcing deficit thinking. Your role is to believe in every student’s potential and advocate for their progress.

- Wonder whether your work is making a difference. You'll see the impact of your support every day.

BENEFITS:

What can we give you in return for your passion:

- An exceptionally satisfying experience as you take students on their learning journey.

- Professional Development: Expand your skill set with opportunities for transdisciplinary development, external and internal growth opportunities.

- More take home pay: How can we offer this? A little-known fact is that as a Not-For Profit organisation, we can offer our employees Salary Packaging options to boost their take-home pay by 6% - 12% per annum (up to $7,500 increase in the amount you take home and spend, rather than going to taxes).

- Annual salary increment progression PLUS yearly 3% salary increases as outlined in our Enterprise Agreement.

More extras: 17.5% annual leave loading, 1 day of paid Health Screening Leave, 14 weeks Paid Parental Leave, Discounts with Medibank Health Insurance, Novated Car Leasing.
