We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Tradesperson Heavy Vehicle / Diesel Motor Mechanic (Nightshift Only) to join our workshop team at our Fremantle WA Bus Depot.
About the role
Transdev WA Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Tradesperson Heavy Vehicle / Diesel Motor Mechanic (Nightshift Only) to join our Maintenance team at the Fremantle Depot in O’Connor.
Reporting to the Workshop Manager/Supervisor, this full time position is responsible for safely and efficiently repairing, servicing and maintaining Transdev WA’s fleet of buses, ancillary vehicles, machinery and associated equipment. The role contributes directly to the delivery of safe, reliable and professionally presented vehicles for our operations.
The position title, full-time employment basis, Fremantle work location and annual remuneration are aligned with the terms recorded in the employment contract.

Roster/Schedule
- 7 nights on followed by 7 days off
- Seven consecutive 12-hour nightshifts during the rostered week on
- 30-minute unpaid meal break during each shift
- 80.5 rostered hours per fortnight
- Approved overtime may be payable in accordance with the applicable employment conditions
Key responsibilities
- Repair, service and maintain buses and ancillary vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical faults and complete required repairs
- Road test vehicles as required
- Service and maintain machinery and equipment relevant to Transdev WA operations
- Attend vehicle or equipment breakdowns on-site and off-site when required
- Complete work safely, efficiently and in accordance with maintenance requirements
- Support the presentation of vehicles to the required operational standard
- Follow Transdev WA’s health, safety, environmental and quality systems
- Liaise with Operations and Maintenance employees to support vehicle maintenance schedules
- Provide guidance to apprentices and new employees when required
- Perform other duties reasonably associated with the position
Essential qualifications and experience
To be considered, applicants must have:
- A current Australian-recognised trade certificate relevant to heavy vehicle mechanical work
- Demonstrated experience repairing, servicing and maintaining heavy vehicles, buses or comparable commercial fleet vehicles
- A current Heavy Rigid, HR, driver’s licence
- For overseas-issued trade qualifications, certification demonstrating that the qualification meets Australian standards
- Demonstrated mechanical fault-finding, problem-solving and decision-making capability
- The ability to work safely and effectively with limited supervision
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a Maintenance team
- The ability to interpret and comply with legislation, company policies and procedural instructions
- The ability to use, or develop proficiency in, relevant maintenance or ERP systems
- The ability and willingness to work the advertised 7-on, 7-off nightshift roster
