Cecilias is an upmarket Asian-inspired restaurant at Toowoon Bay. We're taking on one apprentice — first or second year, we're not fussed which. If you're starting fresh, the training side is already sorted: contract, [TAFE campus] enrolment, apprenticeship support network handling the paperwork. If you're already partway through, we'll work with your provider to transfer you across.

This is a proper apprenticeship

Full time, working toward your Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. We pay you for your time at training. You come out the other side a qualified chef.

What you'll actually be doing

Wednesday to Sunday. If you're current, you'll start where every apprentice starts — prep, mise en place, learning knife work properly, keeping your section clean and stocked. If you've got a year behind you, you'll move onto sections faster. Either way you'll be working alongside Head Chef Adam through service. It's a busy room and you'll feel it on a Saturday night.

Who we're after
First-year apprentices: no kitchen experience needed. If you've just finished school, or you're finishing this year, that's exactly right
Second-years: bring your training plan and we'll sort the transfer with your provider




You want to be a chef specifically — not just "a job in hospo"
You turn up, on time, every rostered shift. This matters more than talent and it's not close
You can take a correction mid-service without taking it personally
You've got a way to and from Toowoon Bay for 9pm finish — parking on site.

Pay and conditions

Apprentice rates under the Restaurant Industry Award [MA000119] — plus weekend and late-night penalty rates and superannuation. First-years who've completed Year 12 start on the higher first-year rate. Your pay steps up as you complete your training competencies, which can happen sooner than the twelve-month mark.
