Lead Occupational Therapist

We partner closely with clients, families and home care providers to deliver evidence-based services that prioritise lasting wellbeing and quality of life.
We're looking for a Lead Occupational Therapist to join our Melbourne team, delivering high-quality care to clients while playing a key leadership role in the growth, performance and culture of our Melbourne Occupational Therapy team.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical work
Assess and manage the needs of clients, and provide expert advice and treatment options
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards in the delivery of care
Utilise advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice
Participate in the development and implementation of clinical programs and services
Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with documentation requirement
Provide clinical support and coaching to junior Occupational Therapists
Continually review our current processes with an eye for improvements, including updating our team wiki with best practice
Prepare training and educational materials for the organisations we work closely with
Identify opportunities for service improvement and develop strategies to enhance the quality of care
Engage in professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical skills and knowledge
Team Leadership & Development
Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to the Melbourne Occupational Therapy team; you'll be supported by the National Head of OT
Regularly check in with team members to understand performance, workload, development needs and wellbeing.
Support clinicians through complex cases, professional challenges and difficult client or stakeholder situations.
Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and address any issues or concerns
Support onboarding and integration of new Occupational Therapists into the Melbourne team
Identify development opportunities and support clinicians to build their clinical and professional capabilities
Assist with performance reviews, goal setting and ongoing development planning
Support succession planning and identify emerging leaders within the team
Collaborate with the National Head of OT on team planning, workforce needs and organisational priorities
Ensure that all compliance requirements are met, including team certifications are up to date
Organisational Growth
Partner with Talent Acquisition and the National Head of OT to identify workforce needs and recruit high-quality Occupational Therapists
Proactively create knowledge sharing opportunities across Nimbus Health
Contribute to company and departmental training sessions
Act as a brand advocate for Nimbus Health
About You
Bachelor Degree of Occupational Therapy (or equivalent)
Current AHPRA registration
A valid Australian driver's license
Regular access to a car
At least 5+ years' experience, with previous leadership, mentoring or team coordination experience
A genuine interest in developing people and building high-performing teams
Ability to balance the needs of individual team members with broader team and organisational priorities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of a range of occupational therapy treatment modalities
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a caseload of clients and prioritise tasks effectively
Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
A positive attitude and strong desire to make a difference in clients' lives
