Tier 2 AWS Platform Operations Engineer
Melbourne CBD | Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in the office

We're looking for aTier 2 AWS Platform Operations Engineerto join our team, with a primary focus onadvanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, remediation, and AWS platform reliability.
As a Tier 2 engineer, you'll act as an escalation point for complex incidents, taking ownership of issues from Tier 1 through to resolution while proactively improving platform reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Take ownership of escalated incidents and perform deep-dive AWS infrastructure and application troubleshooting.
Develop automation usingCloudFormation, Lambda and CI/CD pipelinesto reduce manual intervention.
Enhance monitoring and observability usingSplunk, Honeycomb and OpenTelemetry.
ConductRoot Cause Analysis (RCA), document findings and implement preventative measures.
Collaborate withDevOps, application and security teamsto maintain compliance and performance.
Mentor Tier 1 engineers on troubleshooting techniques and best practices.
AWS Certification– SysOps or higher strongly preferred.
StrongInfrastructure as Codeexperience,



particularly CloudFormation.
Proficiency withGitHub, with Bitbucket/Bamboo experience a plus.
Hands‐on experience withSplunk, Honeycomb and OpenTelemetry.
Ability to troubleshoot under pressure duringmajor incidentsand lead technical bridges.
Desired Experience:
CloudFormation troubleshooting, including stack failures, drift detection and rollback handling.
Strong knowledge ofIAM policies, S3 bucket policies and AWS security best practices.
AdvancedCloudWatchexperience, including metrics, alarms, LogGroups and custom dashboards.
AWS microservices includingECS Fargate, Lambda and API Gateway.
Scripting/programming experience withPython, Shell or Node.js.
Solid networking knowledge coveringOSI, VPCs, routing, NAT gateways and DNS.
Experience withCloudFront and WAF.
Nice to Have:
CloudTrail analysis for security and compliance.
VPC Flow Logs troubleshooting and network packet analysis.
IAM AssumeRole, STS Tokens, Secrets Manager and SSM automation.
AWS performance tuning experience.
