Capstone Recruitment
Launceston
Across northern Tasmania, something compelling is always at work.
This is a region of depth, where historic streetscapes give way to world-class dining, cool-climate wines from the Tamar Valley, and a thriving food culture that has earned national recognition.
It's a place where farmers' markets sit alongside urban bars, where paddock-to-plate isn't a trend but a way of life, and where a diverse, welcoming community brings the world to your doorstep.
Just like the region itself, this work runs deeper than it first appears.
And right now, there's a rare opportunity for the right person to take a genuine step up.
The Prospect
A leading northern Tasmanian council is seeking an Asset Strategy Lead to help shape and deliver its asset management strategies, policies, and plans.
This is a career-defining role for someone ready to grow their influence and take on greater responsibility.
You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team of five, contribute to evidence-based decision-making, and play a central part in managing the region's infrastructure portfolio sustainably for the community it serves.
Whether you're currently in a technical, coordination, or specialist role, this is a genuine opportunity to broaden your scope, build your leadership capability, and make your mark.
Reporting to the Senior Leader Property and Asset Strategy, you'll work with established frameworks aligned to ISO ***** principles, support data integrity and GIS integration, and help align asset planning with the council's long-term financial plan, service delivery frameworks, and four-year delivery program.
You'll also contribute to the annual capital works program,
with the support and mentoring to grow into the full scope of the role.
Who We're Looking For
You are someone with solid technical grounding and the ambition to grow your impact.
You may not tick every box today, but you have the aptitude, drive, and mindset to develop quickly with the right support.
We're just as interested in your potential as your track record.
You bring:
Tertiary qualifications in engineering, asset management, asset planning, or accounting
Experience working within an asset management or infrastructure planning environment, with a genuine appetite to broaden your scope and influence
A working understanding of ISO ***** principles, or the capability and motivation to build it, ideally within a local government context
Familiarity with asset data, GIS, and financial systems
Exposure to asset management plans, lifecycle models, or financial forecasting for long-life asset portfolios
An interest in local government legislation, including the Local Government Act **** (Tas), with willingness to develop this knowledge
The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
Why Northern Tasmania?
Because this region gives back.
Exceptional quality of life, a thriving food and wine culture, outstanding natural surroundings, and a connected community make northern Tasmania one of Australia's most liveable places.
The region offers the quality of life that larger cities promise but rarely deliver.
It's a place where your career and your lifestyle can genuinely grow together, and where a step up in your career doesn't mean a step away from the things that matter.
Recruitment Timeline
Applications close 4th September ****.
