Data Modeler Job Description

This is a senior role for data modeler who is capable of designing, documenting and implementing data modelling solutions to support Ausgrid's information management, data analytics and other data-driven initiatives. To design and prototype data into standardised reusable models in the Enterprise Data Platform (Azure Data Lakehouse).

The successful candidate will:
n
n
Work closely with domain experts to understand business data requirements and translate them into conceptual, logical and physical data models.
n
Conduct modelling reviews with technical and business stakeholders.
n
Work closely with engineers on the implementations of target databases.
n
Work closely with modelling lead on governing the modelling standards and ensuring process is followed.
n
Work in a collaborative environment with agile approach.
n
n
Responsibilities include:
n
n
Ensuring the accuracy, completeness and consistency of the data product models.
n
Maintaining documentation and metadata for the data product models.
n
Communicating and explaining complex data concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
n
Ensuring proper handshaking process happen between modelling and engineering team during handovers.
n
Contributing and assisting with data product end to end process such as data profiling, data flow solutioning, requirement verification.
n
Contributing to the data modelling and design standards,



help promoting and pollenating modelling standards and knowledge across Ausgrid.
n
Peer reviewing for others' modelling work and provide feedback to keep others modelling work aligned with company standards.
n
Proactively and independently addressing business requirements and articulate issues, assumptions and challenges to reduce project delivery risks.
n
n
Skills desired:
n
n
7+ years of proven hands-on modelling experiences. Capable of using Third Normal Form (3NF) and Dimensional modelling methods.
n
Experiences with medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold, etc).
n
Experiences with any major cloud-based RDBMS.
n
Azure Data Lakehouse
n
Experiences with any professional data modelling tools.
n
Understand Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD), SparkSQL,
n
Experiences with agile delivery, and transparent about design-development cycles.
n
Experiences with commercial ERP software like SAP will be plus.
n
Experiences with utility companies will be advantageous.
n
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
n
n
