Work Arrangement: Hybrid (minimum 2 days per week in the office, typically Tuesday and Wednesday, with occasional Friday attendance required)

Director, Risk, Compliance and Safety
n
An exceptional opportunity exists for a senior Director, Risk, Compliance and Safety to lead a critical governance, assurance and organisational resilience function within a major NSW Government organisation responsible for supporting mission-critical communications infrastructure relied upon by emergency services and first responders across the state.
n
This is a highly visible executive leadership role responsible for enterprise risk, compliance, safety, protective security, business continuity and incident management across a large and complex operational footprint of approximately 700 sites statewide.
n
Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategy, Commercial and Risk, you will partner closely with Executive Leadership, the Audit & Risk Committee and Board, driving risk maturity, governance excellence and organisational resilience.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Enterprise Risk Management
n
n
Lead and continuously improve the enterprise risk management framework.
n
Manage enterprise and project risk registers, risk appetite statements and risk reporting.
n
Monitor emerging risks and develop mitigation strategies across operational and strategic functions.
n
Drive a robust risk culture throughout the organisation.
n
n
Board and Audit & Risk Committee Reporting
n
n
Prepare and present high-quality Board and Audit & Risk Committee papers.
n
Provide strategic advice on enterprise risk, governance and assurance matters.
n




Lead risk assurance activities and executive reporting.
n
Drive maturity and consistency in governance reporting and risk oversight.
n
n
Compliance and Governance
n
n
Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and policy obligations.
n
Lead organisational compliance frameworks and assurance activities.
n
Coordinate audits and oversee the implementation of audit recommendations.
n
Promote governance best practice and continuous improvement.
n
n
Safety Leadership
n
n
Oversee Work Health and Safety (WHS) strategies, frameworks and reporting.
n
Monitor incidents, investigations, corrective actions and safety performance.
n
Lead initiatives that support a positive safety culture across office, operational and field-based environments.
n
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety legislation and standards.
n
n
Protective Security
n
n
Lead protective security programs, frameworks and operational practices.
n
Manage security clearance processes and personnel security requirements.
n
Maintain relationships with relevant government security agencies and stakeholders.
n
Ensure security risks are appropriately identified, managed and reported.
n
n
Business Continuity & Incident Management
n
n
Lead Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) programs.
n
Facilitate crisis management exercises and organisational resilience initiatives.
n
Chair Incident Management Teams and coordinate responses to significant operational incidents.
n
Drive improvements in incident management capability and organisational preparedness.
n

Leadership
n
n
Lead and develop a team of approximately 5 direct reports within a broader team of approximately 30 staff.
n
Build capability across risk, compliance, safety and governance functions.
n
Foster collaboration, accountability and high performance.
n
n
Essential Experience
n
n
Extensive senior leadership experience in enterprise risk management.
n
Proven experience preparing and presenting reports to Boards and Audit & Risk Committees.
n
Strong understanding of governance, compliance, assurance and risk frameworks.
n
Experience leading organisational risk maturity and capability uplift programs.
n
Demonstrated experience managing teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
n
Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and executive reporting skills.
n
Ability to operate effectively within a complex, high-profile environment.
n

Highly Desirable
n
n
Experience within critical infrastructure, telecommunications, emergency services, utilities, defence or government environments.
n
Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) experience.
n
Incident Management Team (IMT) leadership experience.
n
Protective security and security clearance management experience.
n
Experience working with external security, intelligence or regulatory agencies.
n
