About the role
Mater Foundation
is seeking an experienced and creative
Senior Manager, Strategic Content
to lead our content, storytelling, brand and production functions in a
permanent, full-time
position.
Based in Newstead and reporting to the Director, Marketing, this is a senior role which will lead a team responsible for content, storytelling, social media, and for an interim capacity, brand and production support across Mater Foundation.
This is a strategic and hands on role which will oversee the development of compelling cause-led content that drives fundraising performance while ensuring supporters remain connected to the impact of their generosity. You'll also be accountable for building the systems, structure and planning processes that enable a sustainable, high-performing content function.
This role is also instrumental in the content and broadcast strategy and delivery of Queensland's only live Telethon, the
Nine Telethon supporting Mater Little Miracles.
The content team is a service team within the wider Marketing and Foundation team, so this role must be comfortable with understanding that content developed feeds into other teams who are in charge of campaign execution.
This is an exciting opportunity to combine strategic leadership with hands‐on delivery, working across Mater Foundation to bring powerful stories to life and create meaningful supporter experiences.
Lead Mater Foundation's content and storytelling strategy across fundraising, stewardship and brand activities
Developing compelling cause narratives across campaigns, appeals, lotteries, philanthropy and community fundraising programs
Building and maintaining a pipeline of patient, clinician, researcher and donor stories
Establish and continuously improving content planning frameworks, workflows and governance processes to ensure content is proactively sourced, prioritised, produced and delivered in support of organisational and fundraising objectives
Oversee content planning and delivery across digital, social, broadcast, print and supporter communications
Lead the content strategy, storytelling and production planning for the Nine Telethon supporting Mater Little Miracles, including end-to-end ownership of Telethon Day content and audience experiences
Build strong relationships with broadcast,
creative and production partners to deliver high‐quality outcomes
Oversee the delivery of campaign collateral, creative assets, event signage and supporter‐facing materials
Leading the implementation and adoption of AI to support content delivery efficiencies
Use audience insights, data and performance metrics to continuously improve content effectiveness
About you
You're a strategic storyteller and people leader who understands how powerful content can inspire action.
You bring solid editorial judgement, leadership capability and the ability to turn complex information into meaningful stories that connect emotionally with audiences. You are equally comfortable setting strategic direction, coaching a team, building stakeholder relationships and ensuring high‐quality content is delivered across multiple channels.
Importantly, you understand that great storytelling requires more than great ideas. You're highly organised, detail-oriented and able to implement the planning structures, processes and workflows that ensure content is sourced, prioritised and delivered effectively. You enjoy bringing clarity to complexity and balancing creativity with disciplined execution.
Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who will make a positive contribution to our team culture and be a key leader in elevating culture within the team.
You'll bring:
Significant senior‐level experience in content, communications, journalism, media, publishing, fundraising or marketing
Demonstrated success developing and delivering content strategies that drive audience engagement, brand awareness and revenue outcomes
Strong experience creating content across multiple channels, including video, email, print and broadcast
Proven experience developing cause‐led narratives and impact‐driven storytelling
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to work confidently with senior leaders, clinicians, researchers, patients and donors
Experience managing multiple priorities, projects, production workflows and external partners
A solutions‐focused mindset and a willingness to roll up your sleeves when needed
Brings energy and enthusiasm to challenges and opportunities
Celebrates success and helps elevate the culture, engagement and performance of those around them
Experience
in fundraising, healthcare, media or the not-for-profit sector
will be highly regarded, as will experience using AI and emerging technologies to enhance content development, workflow efficiency and audience engagement.
