Our client is a global renewable energy business with a growing presence in the Australian market.
n
The organisation is actively involved in large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects and continues to expand its renewable energy operations and project portfolio.

About the Role
n
An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Financial / Project Accountant to join a lean Melbourne finance team and work closely with the Financial Controller.
n
The position combines core financial accounting with project-related reporting and is open to candidates from either a Senior / Financial Accountant background or a Project Accountant background.
n
This is initially a 6-12 month contract working full-time hours, with the prospect to transition into a permanent position.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Financial Accounting & Reporting
n
n
Support month-end close and prepare accurate financial reporting for the Financial Controller.
n
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, journals and supporting month-end schedules.
n
Assist with BAS preparation and routine finance compliance requirements.
n
Support the preparation of financial reports and management reporting.
n
Investigate accounting discrepancies and ensure financial records are complete and accurate.
n

Project Accounting
n
n
Provide finance support across renewable energy and other project-based activities.
n
Maintain accurate project financial records, reconciliations and reporting schedules.
n
Work with project and operational stakeholders to ensure financial information is captured correctly.
n
Support project-related reporting and financial analysis for the Financial Controller.
n
Assist with finance requirements across different stages of project delivery.
n

Finance Operations & Controls
n
n
Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation in SAP.
n
Assist with audit queries, financial controls and ad hoc reporting requirements.
n
Support the Financial Controller across day-to-day finance priorities.
n
Review finance data and identify inconsistencies requiring investigation.
n
Contribute to improvements in finance processes, reporting and data quality.
n

Stakeholder Support
n
n
Work closely with the Financial Controller and Finance Assistant within a lean finance function.
n
Partner with project teams and internal stakeholders to resolve accounting and reporting matters.
n




Provide timely and practical finance support to the broader business.
n
Assist with ad hoc finance projects and business requirements during the contract period.
n
n
Skills & Experience
n
n
Currently operating at Senior Accountant, Financial Accountant or Project Accountant level.
n
Strong hands-on experience with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
n
Experience preparing BAS and supporting routine finance compliance activities.
n
Project accounting or project-based industry exposure within property, infrastructure, renewable energy or a comparable environment would be highly regarded.
n
Strong SAP experience and confidence working with financial data and reporting systems.
n
Ability to work independently and support a Financial Controller within a lean finance team.
n
Strong attention to detail, communication and stakeholder management skills.
n
Mandarin language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
